People loved Deuce because he was a great RB when healthy, dominated the Eagles in the playoffs, had a great personality as the anti-Ricky, and was a great citizen and steward of New Orleans.
Just because his career on-field production didn't net him his fame as a Saint doesn't mean he's overrated.

If anything, Ricky was OVERRATED and Deuce UNDERRATED. The fans loved Ricky before he even stepped foot on the field. Ricky was fast. Deuce was fast. Ricky couldn't catch . Deuce could catch. Deuce could also throw, (TD pass his rookie year. He also could return kicks and punts his rookie year. Then Ricky complained about his teamates, broke his arm and ankle (whatever it was), and then was gone.
Then Deuce came in and gave us something to cheer about. His big play ability is something Ricky didn't have with the Saints. Deuce ran with heart. Unlike Ricky, he came back from a torn ACL and brought us one 1 from the SB. Ricky may have better stats with the Dolphins, but would not have ran over the Eagles like Deuce did in the playoffs.
And FWIW, Turley was the most overrated player I'd seen with the saints. He couldn't pass block worth a shite. As of right now, I would say Jamall Brown is.

Can u name who was better than Deuce on the offensive side of the ball in Saints history? Maybe he wins by default but we havent had much to work with throughout Saints history.
Joe Horn = not overrated; was a premier NFL reciever during his prime and went to 4 pro bowls (explain how he was overrated?)
If I have to say somebody is overrated than I say its Hebert (I hate him and I dont think he's worth saying hes overrated because he was never good). First, I think he gave himself the nickname "Cajun Cannon", which giving yourself a nickname = ghey. When the Saints were legitment contenders for a SuperBowl run in the 1990, he sat out 1 1/2 years for more money. As a result we traded away several draft picks for Steve Walsh that yr. (we all kno how that worked out). But most important, I will never forgive that no talent arse clown for signing with Atlanta and flying around the Dome like a Falcon after a touchdown.

just as I start to regain respect for you after the Drew Brees sucks and isn't clutch thing (which is bullshite by the way, he would have had a few game winning drives if the defense could have made a play) you do something like this. Deuce is one of the best players in history. I'd have to go with Turley or Jamal Brown. I don't know how Brown has managed to get into 2 Pro Bowls

MIke McKenzie sucked and everyone praised him. He was a crappy corner on a terrible defense..
Posted on 6/24/09 at 11:32 pm to G8RH8R
MIke McKenzie didnt suck when healthy, was he an elite no but he was still a good man corner
Posted on 6/24/09 at 11:33 pm to CM84
wrong. he just didn't get thrown on because the other corner was worse. we got the wrong black man with dreds from Green Bay

right by someone sucking a little worse than him makes a ton of sense.. funny
Posted on 6/25/09 at 12:00 am to G8RH8R
Please make some sense. You said he didnt get thrown on. If he does his job and doesnt get thrown on then how does he suck?
Posted on 6/25/09 at 12:21 am to CM84
Nvm. Because someone was worse then him doesn't mean he was doing his job right. There Is a reason why a playoff caliber team green bay gave up on him. There is a reason why our why our d is so terrible. Because he was on it. There is a reason why we didn't sign him besides his injuries. He was terrible. Really really terrible.

Deuce 1st 3 seasons with the Saints as a starter:
945 carries, 4013 yards, 30 TDs, 4.3 YPC.
Top 3 long runs: 62, 76, 72 Yard runs
fumbles lost: 11
Ricky's 3 years with the Saints:
814 carries, 3129 yards, 16 TDs, 3.8 YPC
top 3 longest runs: 25, 26, 46
fumbles lost: 20
and Joe Horn is the best WR in Saints history. Easily.

Very easily.
And how does Alejandro say that Ricky is better at every statistical category than Deuce? Wha???
I mean, if we're talking Saints, aren't we only talking about there play WITH the Saints???
Deuce's 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year is EASILY better than what Ricky did here.

Exactly. Deuce was awesome for 3 years. Then he was shite. And everybody still loves him unconditionally.
Name another player who misses most of 3 seasons and makes $5 to $7 MM per season and doesn't get criticized one iota.

I'm not talking ONLY Saints. Who implied that? I said Ricky leads Deuce in every major statistical category, which is true. In order to skewer the numbers you guys just eliminated Ricky's 2 best seasons in the NFL when he was tearing shite up and rushing for over 3,100 yards in 2 seasons.
Anyway, my only reason for bringing Ricky up is that Saints fans largely consider his NFL career to be a "bust". I like pointing out that his NFL career is actually more impressive than the vaunted Deuce McAllister, who is the most overrated player in New Orleans Saints franchise history.
