Please just resign. Go to Pat O’s tonight, and sit down at the piano bar. Drink a Hurricane or two then relish in the success you did have as the GM of the New Orleans Saints. Then tomorrow, call a presser and announce your resignation. You could even put a 60 day notice on it. Just resign, i and many others applaud you. We need a change, and trust me it’s better

If he quit now, I’d still remember him for all the good he did. The 2017 draft class is maybe the greatest of all time even if it was all luck which it appears to have been, he still orchestrated that. Each day he carries on he tarnishes his legacy. It’s gonna get to the point where nobody remembers all the good he did.. we are close to that now. Hang it up, Mick. You had a nice run.

The fog of time would make me forget about this delusional post Payton era he has orchestrated also. He’s not going to turn it around and it’s going to get ugly for him real soon if he digs in.

I think the struggle is Mickey likes personnel and drafting, which he didn’t have under Payton.
He thinks because of Penning development, Olave, Bresse, and Fuaga he’s got talent evaluating figured out. He enjoys this aspect of the job and isn’t giving it up.
MM said no way to Mickey keeping personnel and here we are.

Mickey is a total loser. We are in this spot 100% because of him.
The good times? That is ancient history.
I will not pay attention to the Saints until he is gone.

The thing is he doesn't have to resign and retire. He literally has the authority to promote himself to another role and hire a new GM (who would report to him). Loomis has his strengths and has value to the organization. There's a reason Payton loved working with him and even went as far as to attempt to have his contract state that if Loomis were to be fired Payton's contract would become void (this was when it looked like Rita might inherit the team and Payton wanted to hedge against having to deal with her).
But he's just NOT a football guy. Never has been. He's not who we need making personnel decisions and the fact that he's been completely unwilling to admit that the glory days are over is telling. He keeps thinking we're still in the Payton/Brees 7-9 years when we were legitimately a few moves away from contending again. That's not who we are anymore and barring a miracle in drafting we won't be again for at least a few more years. He had his day and was a big part of the most successful period in Saint history, but he's not the right person in the right role today and it's not going to get any better.
