Mason Graham was 296 (26%) with 32” arms (13%) as a DT just last year and never put any times on paper. I guess wrecking shite on tape is enough for some scouts

are we pretending Bain hasn’t faced OTs with long arms who will play on Sunday

I don’t think Mason’s a sure fire great pick yet that high. He’s a player but that body type / run and pass grades are not elite

and he’s a DT so 32” is MUCH different than 30 7/8 outside

I’m talking more about the precedent he set going top 5 with those measurables and not working out. It was a crazy notion last year and everyone was saying how far he would fall. And he wasn’t Aaron Donald year 1 but he was the best rookie DT from his class

But, even then, he was in lower quadrants. Bain's arms are what %? 1st?

There is a HUGE gap in 16-25% and 0-1%

What's the 5%? Bains projected 40 or vertical?

he was 296 at the combine. It wasn’t just the arms. I don’t think 31” arms would’ve changed anything for Graham. If you go 1.5 with those red flags and no athletic testing, the tape, workouts and character win out

And look - the best edge in this draft won’t be Bain or Bailey. Both make you too uneasy to spend a top 10 pick. One of these 2nd -3rd rd guys are going to be the guy from this draft

Let’s just pick Malachi Lawrence at the end of the first/early 2nd and win the draft

There really aren't any value picks.

We should trade down and down and down.

We still have a lot of holes and a lot of rebuilding to do and need a lot of picks over the next couple years.

If we stay at 8 we are either going to pick a very flawed prospect for that position or we're going to pick a player at a position that doesn't have the necessary value to justify the pick.

But if we have to stay and we have the option of Bain or Bailey, Bailey is the slam dunk easy pick between the 2.

and what are the chances the Saints have the luxury choice of both Bain and Bailey at 8 pick?

They are different type of edge prospects. Too much time is being argued between one vs the other rather which one can you envision the saints implementing in their defensive scheme.

I'm not sure how Bain projects as an edge in a 3-4 at all

If he had major speed/burst? Maybe, but we can write that off due to his refusal to test.

Short, underweight power guys without explosiveness/burst have an extremely limited use IF they had normal-sized arms, and that's almost 4-3 dependent.

Really wish he would’ve given us data here. It seems half of people see speed/burst and the other half don’t.

But not doing those drills isn’t necessarily an indictment of those skills. It’s really about increasing his stock and really there’s nothing he could’ve done to increase his stock unless he really showed out there

I don’t see how people think he isn’t explosive. He can bend, too, and his hands are incredible. I don’t ever bet on outliers but I’m in on Bain.

I want to say that Bain also did not participate in the practices or the games at the Senior bowl but did show up and do the interviews.

I might be wrong about that.

but if that's true, that's more dodging by him.

I like him as a player but I'm out now

I've kind of settled on Downs if he's available

Downs has the same questions that need to be answered tomorrow.

If he skips testing tomorrow, I'm out on Downs, too.

I wonder if they're being advised the ones that don't test by an agent or somebody.

like if it were up to me I'd be wanting to do everything I could. coaches and scouts. really appreciate that.

Coach Kellen said this in his interview he did with Tyler for that combine promo. He really appreciated that Tyler wanted to compete and did everything they asked

He did play a 16 game schedule that ended a week before the Senior Bowl
