re: Mark Ingram getting hammered on Baton Rouge radio

Devery Henderson was fricking pathetic until like his his 4th or 5th year, and he never was a 1000 yard receiver. He dropped as many passes as he caught.
He was a 2nd round draft pick who didn't produce as much as a 7th round pick and undrafted free agent.
How many "Devery Sucks" or "Cut His Sorry arse" threads did we have?

Devery was always criticized for his hands but he actually contributed to the team. There was also no point during his career where he was "starting" over a guy better than him.
Comparing Devery to Ingram is just stupid. I can't even come up with a WR equivalent to what Ingram is doing. Is there any receiver who dropped like 75% of his passes? Those guys don't make the NFL so Brandon Lafell his freshman and sophomore year maybe.
If you want a LSU bust to make a shoddy comparison to Ingram go with Al Woods.

Ingram led the Saints in rushing and rushing touchdowns last year. I don't think Devery has done neither at receiving at any point in his career.
In Devery's second year, he was the Saints' 6th leading receiver.
In Devery's rookie year, he was active for one game.

quote:I agree with this. We drafted him after we couldn't convert a 3rd and 1 or 2 all of 2011 just for that purpose. Clearly, that isn't happening. Relegate him to #2 back just to give Pierre a breather and call it good. Quit trying to make him something he clearly cannot be.
Right now, Mark Ingram's performance has proven that Pierre Thomas is our man. Just keep running Pierre and if he needs a breather, put Ingram or whomever else is dressed in for a play or two.

And last in YPC and not the best RB on the team.

3rd year 2nd on the team in receiving in Ingram's 3rd year 1.8 ypc. Into the crevasse he goes.

Yep.

In NO way am I arguing that Ingram is having a great season. His performance at the goal line is atrocious.
I think there is no doubt that some of the Ingram hate is due to his school and his overzealous support of and loyalty to that school.
I also believe that there is a double standard for shitty players who went to LSU. I mean, if it were up to the Saintards on this board, our receiving corps would be Colston, Henderson, Josh Reed and Craig Davis. Lance Moore would have never gotten a chance.

To a degree it is but Roman is probably more vocal about Bama and has sucked plenty in his Saints career and Ingram's catching more heat. It's because he's playing really really bad.

The people who complain about this mention it way more than the people who actually do it.

If Ingram went to LSU, you'd have just as many threads of people saying Payton isn't using him right or the Oline isn't blocking for him
Payton is not using him right, becuase he is in the game, he should be on the bench or practice squad. Doesnt matter where the guy went he is terrible

I hear ya, but the Saints also didnt give up a first and third to get Devery, either.

I couldn't care less about where he went to school. The guy is just not an effective running back at all.

At this point, every argument and counter-argument that could possibly be made about Ingram has been made.
We have determined 3 things:
1. He loves Bama
2. He's a good guy
3. He's not a good NFL running back
These are facts at this point.

I think Suh is a recent grad of Hitlers institute of puppy killing. At least that's what Dean Vick told me.

You could part the Red Sea and Ingram would run into water

Yea all those LSU players suck. I mean of all the other backs in that draft class who fit what we need, I sure wouldn't rather Ridley

I call BS on it's because he was a gump. The LSU fans who are also die hard Saints fans like myself don't care. The day he was drafted to me he is a Saint doesn't make a shite where he went to school. If he was playing worth a shite noone in La. would be calling him out period. He sucks and there is no getting around after 3 fricking years. What really sucks is we had Ivory who was more productive, if we lose Thomas we are seriously fricked at running back.

This thread is hilarious. The fact that Ingram when to Alabama means nothing. We all would worship at the feet of Trent Richardson if the Saints had him. But we don't; we have Ingram.
Ingram was too slow at his college weight and body type for the NFL so he slimmed down. Now, he is still below average in speed and quickness plus he cannot run over anybody.
Q: What does it mean when you cannot run around anyone....or make them miss....or run through them?
A: It means you are not an NFL running back.
