Either way they are going to re-sign davenport.
I agree with Chalky here. I'd be very surprised if we let Davenport walk.

he can only play half a season at the most.

In his 4 seasons here, he has never played less than 11 games, and has played in 13 games twice.

He doesn’t suck he is injury prone … there’s a big difference …. He is not half a de he is a solid de when he plays …. Your analogy belittles the man …. Guess you would say armstead is half a tackle … lol whatever that means

Easy man. Consider the poster. One of the biggest whining bitches on this site. And that’s saying something.

It’s out of our hands if we don’t extend him before the season, though. With as great as he already plays the run, if he’s healthy and puts together a 15+ sack season (which is certainly possible), forget walking, he’s gonna be dancing to the team that throws him the most cash. And there will definitely be some with the cap space and willing.

If that’s the case, wouldn’t we be able to tag him?

I hope he gets all the money, then bellys up and busts.
That way those 5 picks we gave up for him bites us even more.

Then I hope he ends up on the falcons and head hunts our QBs for the rest of the decade. As he becomes the best DE to every lay their hand on the field.

Yes but you would do better just giving him a contract. The franchise tag for a de is crazy money.

I wouldn't be shocked if they get something done well before it gets to that.

Even if he stays healthy for say 14-15 games this year, does that make you comfortable enough to extend long term?

Yes.

He has missed a full season of games in 4 years. 17 games.
Cam Jordan has missed 1 game in 11 seasons. That is insane.

and davenport has still almost outproduced Jordan through 4 seasons in 16 less games and way less snaps

And the fricked up part of that entire quote is that Cam only missed that 1 game because he had an asymptotic positive COVID test while he’s also fully vaccinated
