Reggie all the way.

its not just the running - its the fact that he is a threat from numerous places.

I'll let Bill Belichick cast my vote:

quote:

They have good backs. Guys that can run with power and get downhill. They are good in the passing game. I think Pierre Thomas is a guy that is very underrated in the passing game.
But obviously, Bush is a dynamic player who brings a dimension to the offense that is very unique. He's (Bush) hard to deal with.

Bush without hesitation. Cannot replace him. Look at it this way. If we lost pierre right now, there would be little to no drop off with ivory/bush/Wynn/betts. You lose to much big play ability return/recieving/running if you let Bush go. Fact

You left off:

Bush 17 fumbles, 4.0 rushing avg, 7.4 rec avg
Pierre 3 fumbles, 5.1 rushing avg, 8.5 rec avg

Ooooooook. And there's no way Adrian Peterson would be welcome with the Saints, right?

And this one's easy, it's RB, all things monetarily being equal. In the NFL, you go for versatility.

RB is the most versatile back we have.

Let's at least be accurate

Bush 9 fumbles lost (One fumble against the Vikes, I do not hold against Reggie, but rather bad bad officiating.)
Pierre 2 fumbles lost

You obviously hate Reggie, no worries.

I was accurate.

I don't hate Bush. He is just vastly overrated.

Jersey sales do not necessarily indicate player value.

Negative. If you would read through some of the thread, I have never once hated on PT. I had an issue with the fact that the poster stated that PT was by far the better option and something or other about jersey sales.

Just trying to understand the logic?

You left off total receptions, too:

PT: 87
RB: 260

I agree. Not sure what that has to do with anything. I'll take touchdowns and overall production. Both backs have provided that in their time in New Orleans. One is a little more versatile and a little more careless with the ball. Overall, neither is by far an easier option to pick. Both bring good skill sets to the team.

I agree

Bush is good, but he really gets a ton more pub than PT. I guess I am more of a fundamentals type of guy and like ball security, blocking and the complete player that PT is.

I am glad we have both and don't have to decide until next year.

Nor do stats used from earlier in a player's career before they turned a corner. Bush started running well at the end of 2008 (27 carries for 165 yards, 6.1 ypc in his last 4 games), averaged 5.6ypc last season, tore shite up in the playoffs and has been running really well in the preseason. I can understand someone picking PT, but it's close now and I think Bush has a chance to make the choice a lot easier, one way or the other, throughout this season.

Personally, I think someone is going to offer Bush more than he's worth whereas PT is going to get the inexplicable cold shoulder like he did this offseason. I'd much rather see them both walk and keep our OLine intact rather than keep one or both and see Nicks leave. But yeah, we can find a pretty cheap 2nd-4th round pick give us close to what PT gives us, but you're not going to find someone do what Bush did for us last season.

This. But...

Ask me in Three years when his numbers will be even more clear.
