When are we not?

We just extended Granderson. We extended Peat. We paid Peat for crying out loud.

I find it hard to believe we couldn't get it done if we really wanted Hendrickson.

We are always in cap hell. They chose to allocate funds to other players like Peat.

I’ll also add that I thought the right move at the time was to franchise him for one year. And either keep him or trade him for a 2nd.,

The first part is correct.

How would they have franchised him?

They would've had to pay 15mil plus all that year. The Saints were never tagging him.

You actually have to have that money available when you tag someone.

If they hadn’t resigned Michael Thomas and Peat, they could have afforded to keep Hendrickson. I was blasted on here for saying we shouldn’t resign MT because WR’s rarely produce on a second contract, but here we are.

LG.

The mike Thomas contract was fine.
It was the peat contract that was bad.

Peat was always a favorite of Payton.

I guess they believed in davenport and didn't want to pay a 3rd end top money. It was the wrong decision

Defending and over-valuing their draft picks, especially post-2017, was always a blind spot for the front office.

They couldn't admit that they wasted 2, 1sts on Davenport so they chose to let Hendrickson go instead.
