Looks like he’s about to be cut from the Lions. I didn’t realize he didn’t play at all last season for the Cowboys.

Spent the year on IR before the season started
Not trying to defend the pick, or Payton here, but you do realize that other teams are not immune to 1st round busts? Just looking at the 2021 draft and there were 5 other players that did not record a stat last year (see the To column). He at least was good enough to get some looks, some of those other guys are completely out of the league.

Sean/Loomis hit gold in 2017 and then collectively had such bad drafts from 2018-2021. Very strange.

Funny how they call him a veteran in that article. He's barely seen the field his whole NFL "career."

Payton Turner was drafted 28th overall as an edge rusher.
He is tied for 30th in his draft class in sacks
3 of the 4 players drafted after Turner were also edge rushers...
and while none of them are world beaters:
Turner has 5 career sacks
Rousseau has 32 career sacks
Oweh has 30.5 career sacks
Tryon-Shoyinka has 15 career sacks
He is tied for 30th in his draft class in sacks
