Should've been because it lost the game but they weren't.

We went from what would've been 1st and goal at the 3 when we needed a TD to 2nd and 17 on the 20. Losing his cool lost the game.

Lacking emotional control is a bad trait.

saints were trying to score within 10 yrd line i think

defensive lineman grabbed brooks helmet and bent it so far back it was clear he was trying to injure him if not break his neck

turley sees it and goes after him, protecting his QB as he should, rips guys helmet off and then throws it

thats pretty much it

turley was way out of line and was clearly suffering with roid rage but it was understandable

i dont recall anyone ever agreeing with what turley did, but most fans understood his reaction in that situation

If I remember correctly that game cost the Saints the playoffs that season. It was hard to see live on tv why he threw the helmet. Was so ticked off. Jim Haslett said he was gonna cut Turley the next day until he cooled off.

OK. Thanks. Wasn't sure. Was still ticked at that sucker though. (until I heard his explanation).

I was in the Superdome for that game

the Saints were well within scoring range for a late TD to beat the Jets

when it unfolded... we were all like "WTF are you doing?????"

then they showed the replay on the big screens and while we knew it would likely end up costing us the game... we knew he was trying to protect his QB

naturally we all ended up just being upset that the refs didn't see the Jets player cranking Brooks' head

I watched live and I still wish that Jets players head was still in the helmet when he ripped it off.

Here's Haslett's explanation. If you still feel Turley acted wrong after reading it, then I can't help you.

"Driving home (Sunday) night I was thinking about cutting him," Haslett said. "Last night, laying in bed, I thought about suspending him. I didn't see the whole incident on the field. Then I saw it on TV where Damien Robinson was trying to pull Aaron's head off. Then I talked to Aaron about it and Aaron said he thought he broke his neck. So I can understand why Kyle did it to that point."

There's a ocean's worth of difference between getting the guy off AB, which is understandable and reasonable, and dragging the guy down the field to get his helmet off, throwing it, then giving the frick you with his arms. AB was walking back to our sideline when Turley was still rolling on the ground trying to get the guy's helmet for 30 seconds.

I remember the other Saints offensive players saying Aaron Brooks was screaming like he was dying during the neck wrenching, which got Turley fired up.

I wish he was still rolling on the ground today. We need more players with that fire and intensity. It's what we all want to see on Sundays.

I was at the game, and I was screaming my support when that happened. It was clear to all of us that bitch arse Robinson was trying to decapitate Brooks.
