He all but said he did not want to make any mistakes and make it worse

Make what worse? It was a tied game in week 1? Not only would a timeout help your defense keep the other team from scoring but it gives you a chance to score points before the half. These excuses are embarassing.

They are biding time until they think Shough is ready. They do not believe in or trust Rattler. That's what the deal is.

They aren't worried about winning that much

They aren't worried about winning? But they were also too scared lose the game before the half? Makes no fricking sense.

He played the situation wrong, no doubt.

What I’m not going to do, though, is make a determination on how good of a HC he is because of that. He’s coached one fricking game.

He's not going to expressly say, I didn't want to leave time on the clock to let AZ turn a 17-10 lead into a 24-10 lead, because I'm not fully confidence my offense would be able to execute.

That’s a loser mentality. Why give yourself less possessions in a game.

We should have had at least a minute and 30 seconds with one timeout to try and get points. If yiur defense can’t stop them if yiu fail, who says they can stop them in the second half then?

No surprise we lost playing scared. That energy seeps into the players. Theres a reason why Sean Payton wins, and it’s not from coaching scared.

I’d feel better if he owned it and said he will learn from it and it won’t happen again.

Is it scared or smart? What is there is a penalty or two on the two minute drive and we’re punting back to them with 1:30 left. He knew we weren’t coming back from being double digit deficit.

What if their was a defensive pass interference call on them and we get a td before the half and then get the ball again with a ton of momentum?

We can play the what if game all day, but he coached scared there.

No excuse for that. We went to the locker room with close to 20 seconds on the clock, all three timeouts, and the ball at like the 35 or 40. You can't take at least a shot or two in that situation?

this is EXACTLY why he did what he did. appreciate the time you took here, but it's pretty moot on this board unfortunately. there are some who get it though.

edit- I'm not saying it was the right call one way or another, I'm just saying I can see the argument.

Kellen had a plan for what he was doing. He just wrongly predicted what was going to occur.

Exactly. And it’s not long Rattler is some 2:00 drill gunslinger with great weapons at WR.

The NFL coach had a brain fart but the armchair QBs on this board were Johnny on the spot

Sure pal

He very clearly didn’t want to run a 2 minute drill with the way our offense was looking. I actually appreciate him more for not being honest about that publicly just to placate our fanbase.
