If anyone that didn't deserve that it was him. He was money last year. Freaking restructure Colston or Evans

You realize he didn't lose any money right? He actually got more of his contract up front now and still gets the same.

Must be. Maybe for DLP. It doesn't make sense to clear room by restructuring just to carry the cap space into 2015. Only need about $2m (maybe less) to sign draft picks and I'm pretty sure we had that after the PT extension. Plus post June 1 cuts can be used to clear draft pick money if need be.

Lewis is the man. Already took a discount to come home and now he's willing to restructure to help the team. Class man class. Although im assuming he's not losing anything

Why wouldn't he want to restructure?
If my job offers me my next years salary right now, I'm taking it

Lewis didn't take a paycut with the restructuring.

i mean it does roll over, so it could make sense to try and get in a better position for next year.

That should be good enough to match Jimmy's contracts

But at the same time it makes the restructured player a little harder to cut latter.
For instance if we restructured Lofton but then decided his cap hit is too high for his production next year it would be "wasted" money(not really because we used it the prior year or rolled it over, but it leaves more dead money).

This is the catch 22 of restructuring that most don't get sometimes. That's why a guy like Morestead wouldn't be a big deal as I am pretty sure they don't plan to cut him in the next 3 years. Colston likely isn't gone after next season either because cutting him would lose $5.4 million in dead money, and in 2016 would be $2.7M. If you feel he's going to be here for sure in 2015, paying an extra $800k in 2017 to cut if needed isn't as big of a deal with the cap going up.

people need to understand just that.
a restructure is just redoing the contract a bit. doesn't mean the player is taking a pay cut.

Exactly. The problem is that the media spread the myth of restructure = pay cut in order to make their golden boy, Tom Brady, look better.

That's all the recent contract stuff. Humber and Morgan signed for vet minimum and Lewis' and PT's numbers are there.
Edit:
Depending on where you look, we are between $2.1 and $3.1m under at the moment(though I lean towards the NFLPA being more accurate).
