As a Proud Yat born and raised in New Orleans who lost everything my family and I had to Katrina and 8 feet of water (not covered because we didn't have rising water coverage), then toughed out Rita in a hotel(lived in laffy after) and moved to Houma right before Gustav and Ike let me say this.
Constant Katrina is tired and sad and I had to turn the TV off until the BS was over and Brees took the field.
The only people who constantly dwell are those who lost little or had no damage. Most Nola folks I know (mainly Lakeview folks) are sick and tired of the Katrina talk and making all NOLA natives into victims. The media is embarrassing and obnonxious. Not all Nola natives act or talk like victims. Sorry for being long. Geaux Saints!!

Solid post man. You should do this more often.

I'm not going to look up numbers on Pitt, but I assume it's larger than N.O.
It may be. But, it's not considered a "big" market by any stretch, and enforces my point that it is not the size of a team's particular market that creates a national fanbase for that team in the NFL.
Dallas' "America's Team" fanbase is only slightly related to the size of its home market.
Sustained success creates a national market for an NFL team. If home market size had everything to do with it, how could you explain L.A. losing TWO NFL teams? Hell, even teams like the Bears, Giants, and Jets are pretty irrelevant on a national scale when they aren't doing well.

You're a jackass. That's all.

Sorry if I piss anyone off with this, but I am sick of everytime the media talks about the Saints they bring up Katrina. We all know it was a terrible tradgedy, and I wish everyone in New Orleans the best, but the pitty trip is getting old. There are still ravaged areas, but a lot of these areas are still messed up because the individuals that owned the property did nothing for themselves to recover and wait on hand-outs.
I think the entire nation is getting sick of it.

FWIW - I only drink grower champagne rather than the mass production stuff , but drinking a little is almost snorting a line. Napolean once said about champagne " in victory you deserve it , in defeat you need it"

The OP got off-track when he wandered into these thoughts. Being tired of the media's Katrina coverage is a legit opinion. But the OP did not express that uncomplicated opinion and stop there, he had to go and provide his own editorial opinion with regard to these other matters. He expressed himself in an objectionable manner when he wandered off his first and only legit point, and so I confronted him on this message board about that misguided opinion.
I'm not afraid to confront anybody when they take a swipe at LSU, the Saints, New Orleans, Louisiana, and anything else that I have a deep affection and committment to. I'm not brave, just a little crazy about some things.
That's why I took umbrage with the OP.
I counter-attacked Slow Fro POS because he's probably the biggest douche on these message boards, and he's an uninformed clown to boot, not to mention an internet tough guy with a big internet mouth. SFP you don't like me and I don't like you. I suggest we avoid responding to each other's posts in order to avoid direct irritation of each other.

Dude I live in Bay St Louis and this was ground zero when Katrina hit,the fuking eye passed through here. Not to mention I worked in the city afterwards and it was the end of the world during that time as far as I was concerned. I looked like an astronaut with all the shite I had to wear because of all the mold. They are still rebuilding here on the coast as well as Nawlins. You obviously are oblivious as to what actually happened here ! Not only the collateral damage but in the mental aspect as well, rx for antidepressants shot up as well as suicide. Get your facts before you post BS like this!

Katrina put you and so many others through a living hell, and that's why people who say stupid shite about Katrina and Katrina victims will hear my retort. I will not be silent in the face of idiocy and douchery.

Exactly, that year we had damage from Texas all the way to Florida on the coast. It was not good for anyone.

I get that and I'm with you about N.O.
I just felt like throwing some knowledge about champagne because in moderation I believe it's the best fermented thing you can put in your body....the real stuff of course , NOT Korbel.
Over the years I have many WONDERFUL experiences with women and champagne.
PS- one of my best friends in college had a house in Bay St. Louis that got wiped out-----feel ya there too

Of course we did ! Why do you think I go bat-shite crazy with rage at anybody who makes or insinuates a smart-arse remark about it? I will not in silence accept idiotic remarks about this issue.
People had better be careful and thoughtful when they wish to discuss Katrina. It is a topic that is explosive. There is such a thing as "fighting words."

I've got to try that combination. It's my screen name because the only time I drink the stuff is when LSU wins the National Championship or the Saints win the Super Bowl. When one of those events occur, I break out the champagne and celebrate a toast to my heroes on the field.

OK this brings me to the reason I post more on the Hornets board now...LSU has 2 within the last 10 years and the Saints won the superbowl last year. Frankly , I feel like I am playing with house money so to speak as far as football is concerned...I ran into a deal where I scored 2 bottles of Dom Perignon 82 from a FORMER client and thoroughly enjoyed having my X lick it off of my belly...not to get too graphic

This, but you just can't tell any of these liberal idiots anything. They think that everyone owes it to them to feel sorry for them for all of eternity.
