i'll somewhat agree with 3-6, but not fully

a lot of decent people who earn what they own lost a lot in katrina. some got screwed over by insurance companies, some lost family. that is a very sad story, and that story is largely ignored by national media

there were even more people who are leaches that chose to stay, who complained the loudest (and had the most media coverage). these are TYPICALLY the people who the media focuses on, and it's sick to think they're still pushing this story

Sorry if I piss anyone off with this, but I am sick of everytime the media talks about the Saints they bring up Katrina. We all know it was a terrible tradgedy, and I wish everyone in New Orleans the best, but the pitty trip is getting old. There are still ravaged areas, but a lot of these areas are still messed up because the individuals that owned the property did nothing for themselves to recover and wait on hand-outs.

spoken like someone whose life was impacted in no way from katrina

dude it's been 5 years

even if you lost somebody you loved dearly, you should probably be done grieving after 5 years

i was lucky and didn't lose anything or anyone, but i had many friends that did. i don't think its fair to set a timeline for how someone is supposed to feel.

and all the katrina stuff doesn't bother me. i don't know why some people get so riled up by it

There was a season recap about last seasons SB run. I think the katrina angle played a large part in that SB run.

I honestly think that was the last time it needed to be referenced though.

it was slightly annoying last night, but it was opening night, and they need bullshite as filler

but it really grinds my gears when we're in like week 7 against some scrub team and marv albert's little brother brings it up for no frickin reason other than he's bored

it annoys me, but i don't get riled up by it

but people get super riled up if somebody says they're tired of it, even if they have no direct association with nola

1. You dumbasses comparing Katrina in New Orleans to what Rita did to a few fishing camps in lower Cameron Parish are retarded.

2. I'm tired of hearing about Katrina in relation to the Saints.

3. None of this has ever really "riled me up".

it's about the resources allocated and amount of bitching done by people who refused to help themselves

and lake charles was also fricked up a good bit by rita, with the same results as cameron. it was a lot more than "a few fishing camps"

but the story was typically slanted towards those who didn't have nearly as much to complain about as others. they complained the most

katrina is a feel good story that the media gobbles up. Personally im also tired of hearing katrina references every saints game, but it is not going anywhere because it is how the new saints were formed.

That may be some of it, but I contend it was much more about the scale of the destruction. In looking at it, the two don't compare.

That's not saying the people whose shite got fricked up by Rita, were any better off than those, whose shite got fricked up by Katrina. It's just that there were nowhere near as many such folks.

Just because no one in your pathetic life will grieve 5 years after your sorry arse passes doesn't give you the right to put a timeline on when someone should be over their loss. You just keep adding to the long list of reasons you're a douche don't you?

eta: I do like how, so far, the people in this thread talking the most shite are from Lake Charles, Cameron parish and Texas.

yes it was...but we are not comparing disasters I hope...I am certain if you or yours had gone through the holocaust in WWII or Rawanda you wouldnt want people to try and determine; Which one was more of a horror show?
