Sorry if I piss anyone off with this, but I am sick of everytime the media talks about the Saints they bring up Katrina. We all know it was a terrible tradgedy, and I wish everyone in New Orleans the best, but the pitty trip is getting old. There are still ravaged areas, but a lot of these areas are still messed up because the individuals that owned the property did nothing for themselves to recover and wait on hand-outs.

Take this shite to another board. The Saints have been instrumental in the comeback of the city. If you can't see that it's a good story to go from a city that most people thought shouldn't even be rebuilt to the city of the World Champs then you're as blind as they come. It was NBC's first time to do their story on the Saints since the Super Bowl. Get over it homey.

Especially in light of all of the coverage from the 5th anniversary just over a week ago

Hey genius, no one is saying that the players are not great humanitarians for their help. All I am saying is that it has been five years, it is time for N.O. to stop using Katrina as a crutch. It did not take all of cameron parish to recover from Rita, and for the most part they did it themselves. I appreciate everything the players do, just as much as anyone else.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnd, there's the ignorance. Do you really believe that what happened in Cameron parish is even in the same stratosphere as what went on in NO? How did they portray NO using Katrina as a crutch last night?

That was NBC's show last night. N.O. had NOTHING to do with what NBC did. And Cameron isn't N.O., not even close to the same thing.

Can you really argue the fact that the media doesn't bring that shite up at nauseum every time they talk about the saints, or that there are many people in or from N.O. that use that as a crutch. I don't see the media blasting 9/11 everytime they speak about the Giants or the Jets. There were over 3,000 people that died in 9/11. Oh and another thing, there were a lot of families that lost their homes and belongings in Rita also, but they picked themselves back up. That was the point of that statement.

For any number of reasons, I will not be unhappy if and when networks and their commentators stop tying Saints coverage to Katrina. That being said, this is just flat out retarded, to anyone who knows anything:

Opening game near 5th anniversary after Super Bowl victory. If the week 12 intro on Fox is all Katrina then they will have officially run it into the ground, but I think last night was the biggest dose of Katrina you'll get until the playoffs.

Just stop already. It's better to keep your mouth shut and be thought of as ignorant than to open your mouth (in this case type the shite out) and remove all doubt.

It's relevant to the team, but really only in a "since Katrina there has been a special bond" kind of way. One line...that's all that's needed if they really have to talk about it. The 15 minute productions leading into every game are way over the top. I imagine people all over the country are tired of this shite.

While I'm also getting tired of hearing the Katrina stuff (and I lived in Chalmette where I lost my entire community and my house to 10ft of water),

is apples and oranges. Regardless of the number of deaths on 9/11, no one doubted that NYC would exist ever again

I'll say it one more time. This was NBC's first time to cover the Saints post Super Bowl. Like it or not the story is the fricking franchise almost moved the frick out of the city right after Katrina only to have Rita Benson step in and dedicate her whole being to the city of NO. 4 years later we won the fricking SUPER BOWL. Let that soak in for a minute and try to understand the magnitude of that event. If the NFL would've left the city back then there's no telling where the frick we'd be right now.

or that the team would leave or should leave

or that season tickets would double to keep the team even while people were without homes

or that for 4 decades of misery the fans faithfully supported the team
