I guess my question would be what is the story with Jordan Howden?

It probably has more to do with the quality of Simmons than being down on our guys

Shouldn't have an issue with usage since he has a good relationship with the coaches alraedy
Nor pay as I am sure they were aware of his financial demands before bringing him in.
They had already talked with him/brought him in earlier in the off-season and wouldn't meet his contract demands.
Teams bring players in all the time and deals don't get done. My guess is this one does.

Hes a fifth round pick in his second year who hasn’t done much in camp to seperate himself.

He’s the exception even when he was here he looked old and slow he just read the offense well.

Probably so. Howden has just a handful of starts. If the money is right you cannot go wrong with such a vet as Simmons.

If you are CLEARLY effective and dominant, being old and slow to the naked eye is a worthless hill to die on. Not trying to be a dick, but I just dont understand the message.

He was not athletically not what he once was hence a complete fall off the very next season. A lot of smarts/luck.
