But all the doctors on here told us Jimmy was strung out on drugs and needed to be cut

quote:

Saints tight end Jimmy Graham was arrested last Friday night (Aug. 18), after allegedly wandering into traffic while apparently under the influence of a controlled substance, according to published reports.

The Saints issued a statement Saturday morning acknowledging the arrest, but saying it was the result of Graham experiencing a “medical episode” that left him disoriented.

The reports did not specify when or where Graham was arrested, but said he was taken into custody “near a Southern California resort.”

Juwan goes down. Who’s the redzone threat then? Mike? We know he’s so reliable

you think you know more than the staff

No way Graham escapes the final cut to start the season.

My personal opinion is he was on drugs and the team is covering for him and will cut him with final roster cuts.

Based on his long history of drug issues?

If they plan to keep him, maybe but why cover for a guy you expect to cut rather than just cut him?

I don’t think anybody’s suggesting he’s smoking crack or meth. But taking a Xanax and having an extra beer or 2 can frick you up pretty good. Or having a drink and taking an extra Xanax. Alcohol + benzodiazepines is a dangerous combination and can humble even a 250 pound professional athlete. And I don’t think that would be any stain on his character, but I can see why the Saints and he would rather it not get out.

I’m not saying that’s what happened here, but I’m old enough to know better than to take anybody’s story at face value. JG doesn’t have a long history of having seizures either. So a 36-year-old professional athlete has the 1st seizure of his life and is back banging heads against 300 pound NFL defensive linemen 3 days later? That’s more likely to you? I’m skeptical.

No issues with this but the way people are saying it in general, for instance "he was on drugs" or "he was using drugs", seems to have an implication of illicit drug use. Even saw at least one "He was high" statement.

Totally dependent on the type of seizure and the cause. As you stated, interactions between medications can cause seizures as can simple dehydration and certain infections. If the root cause is identifiable and treated or eliminated, there really aren't a lot of reasons not to go about daily activities provided they will not exacerbate the issues.

All that being said up there, that response is understandable.

It seems my post was a direct response to you, but I meant it as a response to anybody simply dismissing anything other than seizures. Just mainly that I’m skeptical of anything at this point and can see why the team would be motivated to color in a light that doesn’t make him look bad. And I wouldn’t fault them for it.

But I agree that the “he’s on drugs” accusations come off with the connotation that he was under a bridge smoking crack with the L.A homeless. Which I admit is absurd. We’re on the same page, I think.

Who is your third TE?

Taysom is a TE in name only, Krull looks like arse

Things could change after cuts but as of now Graham is the best option for a third TE

Absolutely zero reason for any team to cover drug use for an aging #3 TE. Especially knowing that he will be drug tested based on the circumstances of his arrest.

If he was on drugs, there is really no way for the team to cover it up. It will get leaked. Knowing that, I’m sure the Saints medical staff waited for the test results before publicly stating he was suffering from a medical issue.

What specifically do you mean when you say this? “Drugs” is very vague.
