say restructure his contract to about 8mil base salary and the rest of the money be easy performance bonuses like 2000 yards passing 5 mil 20 tds 7mil 8 wins 9 mil etc
because those performance bonuses will be considered "likely to be earned" meaning they will still count against the current year's cap

Did you though? Seems like a competent coach would've easily been able to chew plenty clock after the big pass play and kick a fg that would ultimately win it.

Bree’s has already done this once. If I’m not mistaken he took a pay cut a few years back to keep Graham, maybe? Anyone else remember that?

But Drew probably made a fortune with his savvy jewelry investments.

I could explain the numerous ways you’re wrong here but you seem pretty stupid so that explanation would likely fall on deaf ears, so I’ll just call you an idiot and move along

That's basically the simple minded response I expected here bc you guys are so in love with that shitty coach you have. But anyone looking at it objectively knows I'm right.

but you aren't. A run play was called, Brees audibled out due to the the D the Rams were showing, the play was there, Brees just missed a throw he's statistically never missed with Thomas. If he hits it Thomas either scores or at minimum has a game ending first down. A simple minded fool is the one who judges things like that in hindsight.

The Rams still would have had plenty of time and a kicker capable of putting it in from 55+ with ease had you gone run, run, run, and made them use up their timeouts. A moron such as yourself would then likely be here claiming the saints should have been more aggressive in that series.

DB better cut a deal or retire. He has to know he’s not worth that amount and the crushing effect the roster will reflect.

I don't think people realize we're in this spot because Brees cut deals for the sake of the team.

Even if we ran 3 times then kicked the field goal, the Rams would be down 3 with 1 full minute left.

Can you tell me all the things that competent coach can do at that point to "easily" win it?

dude was playing at en elite level and legit MVP candidate for most of the season, I think the fall off had more to do with OL play and lack of a secondary weapon. Not ruling out Brees may have gotten dinged up at some point.

You kick the fg with what, 45 seconds left? Play some defense and likely win. And I never said EASILY WIN. I said easily chew clock. There are tons of what ifs in hindsight. What if you get the PI call and miss the chip shot?

We should sign him to a 10 year contract and spread the hit out over that. When he is ready to retire, keep him on the roster and IR him every year.

You're big on name calling aren't you? That doesn't make you correct. It just makes you immature. Brees shouldn't have checked out of that play in that situation. 3 runs, even for zero yards, and a fg greatly increase the odds of winning that game. Simple as that.

And if Brees completes a pass he completes 99% of the time, we more than likely win, not sure I see your point here.

Saying it's "simple as that" doesn't make it so.

Based on the alignment, I have very little doubt that that play call gave us the best chance to win.

It just didn't work.
