I don't think Cook is under contract for next year.

It also appears he is a little less consistent this year... Just an observation, haven't looked at stats.

He almost dropped/fumbled it.

Trautman catches one pass in the game and everyone loves him.

Are you stupid? Can you read/understand? People are referencing his play over the SEASON. Not one game.

He is somewhat of a liability in pass protection and run blocking

Pass blocking I have not paid attention to so I'll have to take your word for it, but in the run game I noticed him this week making several key blocks actually. I think that's a great sign for him. Another thread also noted him as having a slightly higher snap count last week than Cook, so he may end up becoming our #1 TE sooner than we think.

Cook has been a disappointment this year.
He is just so soft.
I could see him coming back for another year but it would be less money

I feel like trautman needs another year before he is "the guy"

When we traded up for trautman I was ecstatic. He has already flashed. Smart kid who has already picked up the offense.
I still think they will team him with another pass catching tight end and josh hill next year

Won’t be available at 32. Sorry.

Not to mention that in 14 years of drafts under Payton, we’ve only drafted 4 offensive skill players in the first round.

Bush (2006)
Meachem (2007)
Ingram (2011)
Cooks (2014)

I’d say the odds are that we’re drafting a lineman or defense.

The way he catches the ball aggravates me. He catches it high and then slams it down toward his body, making it easy for a strip or a drop.

He's an athletic freak with very inconsistent hands. Trautman is the future for sure.

After the 49ers concussed Cook in 2019, he has not been the same player.

Look at his competition.

Hill has 7 catches but a able blocker. Also turns 31 next year.
Cooks is having a down year and a salary cut next year.
So the door will be wide open for him to earn it. And you can bet CSP will look to bring in a vet and look at a draft pick as well.
