CNN BREAKING NEWS 10:47AM: Sources have confirmed a severe shortage of Jergens hand lotion in the New Orleans metro area... sources say the product is flying off the shelves as a deal with New Orleans Saints franshise QB Drew Brees appears imminent....
FOX NEWS is reporting that CNN reports are false and that they haven't heard anything even close to that being true

Ed Werder just received a text from an unnamed source close to the situation and New Orleans is possibly experiencing a shortage of Jergens in the area. They may or may not run out of the product within the coming weeks.

WTF is going on here. I saw the link for the WWL page that referenced that "news" would be out by the top of the hour. Where on that WWL page did it state this? Am I blind?

KG was reporting earlier this morning on WWL that "Mike Detilliar was reporting that a deal IS getting close to being done"
They have since pulled that spot from earlier this morning.

This'll be a good birthday present if it happens today

yeah, no.
As I stated last week Brees isn't signing until the arbiter rules.

I've heard from an anonymous source that it won't get done today.
Please keep in mind I'm the first to report this.
No you're not. I said last Thursday that anybody with a brain in their head knows that Kristian Garic is fishing for a "hit" and that Brees has no reason to sign with a potential windfall (favorable ruling on franchise status) in his back pocket.
Garic wanted his first "big boy scoop" and he's going to wind up looking like a retard when nothing happens.

I'm gonna fap regardless if it's all the same to you guys. Wait, there's a knock at the door. The cable guy. I didn't realize our cable was out. Oh my, this guy isn't here to fix the cable. He's here to lay the cable.
I'm funny dammit.

I'm not saying Brees will or won't sign in the next few days, but I don't think the arbiter's ruling has much bearing on Brees' decision. Brees has indicated many times that he wants a long term deal and that he does not or will not sign a franchise tender sheet.
So my question to you is, why does it matter if this next year is to be paid at $16M or $21M? Neither is what Brees or the Saints FO is seeking. They both want a long term deal; the dispute is in the details. Are you suggesting that if the NFL determines that Brees is due $21M with a franchise tag that he'll play this year under the tag, then try to negotiate a salary for next year? I don't see how the ruling gives either side any real leverage.

I could be mistaken but I think it's pretty clear cut that currently the sides are hovering between $19 and $20.5 million per year on average.
It's being assumed that this is with the Saints applying what is considered the 1st franchise tag to Brees, which is like $16M this year and would be like $21M next year (I'm ballparking - too lazy to check).
However, in the unlikely event that the arbiter rules Brees' tag in SD applies here, that means that his average tags would go up by like $5M per year which means that he might raise HIS asking price to $22.5 or $23 per year on average.
So since Brees has waited this long to sign it seems reasonable to wait another couple few weeks in the hopes that he'll make an extra $5mill or more.
Again - purely speculation on my part. The deal could be announced in 5 minutes for all I know - I just think we'd be hearing a lot more from legit sources (teammates on Twitter, ESPN guys, etc).
