Marv Levy is in the Hall of Fame without a Super Bowl win.

So is Bud Grant.

On to the question. I think he is 100% a HOF coach. Meets or exceeds resume wise with other coaches that are in.

.615 winning %, a super bowl, and like 6 pages worth of broken records.

Yes.

Every non Saints fan I know ranks him the 2nd best coach in the league lately... and this is a decade after winning a Super Bowl.

His very first season with New Orleans he takes a 3 win team to the NFC championship..

Not sure how people can say no.. I suppose y’all don’t want to be homers, but he’s a HOF. He’s been successful a very long time as a HC. He’s built such a respected machine.

Not only that, his offense continues to break records year in and year out.

I really have no idea how anyone can say no. Y’all aren’t right.

All of this.

Sean Payton took a perennial loser franchise and has turned them into a pillar of sustained success over 13 seasons, all things considered.

Sean Payton's Saints are among the very best offenses to ever play the game - up there with Air Coryell, the Greatest Show on Turf, and Walsh's West Coast Offense . He has been innovative, successful, and at times - dominant. He has 1 Super Bowl, should have 1-2 more, and still has a chance to win more. He and Drew are one of the most recognizable Coach-QB duos of all-time.

Furthermore, he has a personality. He's been animated and entertaining. He's developed a reputation, and along with it, a legacy. He may not be first ballot for whatever knocks you want to place on him, but he is without-a-doubt, a HOF coach.

Anyone who took the goddamn Saints to the Super Bowl earns an automatic first ballot vote into the Hall of Fame.

Did Mike McCarthy take a team that was practicing in a parking lot the year before to the NFC Championship game, then win the Super Bowl a few seasons later? No? Sean Payton is a HOF coach without a doubt.

No but he did it with a GM who refused to sign anyone from another team for most of his tenure.

Onsides kick put him in. Really. It's not just that the team he coached won a Super Bowl -- Barry Switzer did that. Sean Payton coached his team to a win. He made the difference in the game.

Payton is 55 years old and has another good 10 years of coaching ahead of him if he wants. He has won 1 SB and 5 NFC south titles in 12 years. His overall win record is .615 and has a winning record in the playoffs.

If he averages 9 wins a season over the next 5 years he will pass Bud Grant, Joe Gibbs, Marv Levy, and Tony Dungy who are all in the HOF.
