He's 40 years old. Any QB playing for as long as he has is going to decline in some capacity. It's not saying he's a bad QB and we should move on from him, but he has limitations now that he hasn't had in the past.

I am willing & ready to admit to a decline when I see one. I’m not some super homer that is just saying this to say this.

The only time Brees looks 40 to me is when he is getting hit. His eyes start to look down at the rush & not downfield. He isn’t quite the cowboy he used to be under those circumstances. Physically tho, there hasn’t been much of a drop off

Gurley probably edges him for #2.

Gurley got benched yesterday for 250lb CJ Anderson lol

Eh...6 weeks ago I think he would have. Gurley probably edges him for #2. Brees' performance after Dallas isn't MVP worthy in the slightest.

He finished second to All Pro voting so I think he’ll finish second here as well.

But I completely agree on the other two points. I don’t get why it’s hard to admit for so many on this board that a 40 year old QB might be declining some. He’s had a number of games this year in which he didn’t do a whole lot but we still won. That’s not the typical Brees.

From a clean pocket, Brees earned an impressive 104.4 passer rating, completing 21-of-32 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns in the process

Didn’t help that the Rams’ three highest grades players were on the line

The absolute needs are a legitimate #2 & #3 WR + TE this offseason for one last ride.

can Dez be one of those guys?

I think he could have been this year....just not sure how he bounces back. I wouldn't rely on it.

Tate could be a solid fit maybe

gotta hope smith can take a big step forward in year two

TE will likely just be a hole again, rookies rarely make an impact and the FA looks like arse. We could bring in eifert and hope he can stay healthy for the first time ever
