If you say "I'll give you $100,000 to lose games" the NFL will say it was just unserious talk.
But if you say "I'll give you $10,000 to tackle Brett Favre" the NFL will say it was definitely not unserious talk and will suspend you for a year.

I just always loved they kept saying they had thousands of pages of evidence that the Saints had a bounty and when Vilma et al asked for them for discovery they were like...now just wait one minute.

The first line on the picture you posted says they didn’t find evidence of them paying a coach to tank.
The penalties against the saints were way out of bounds but I’m not really seeing your point here.

Yeah but it sounds like everybody took it differently. Idk just not really a comparison to me. What goodell did to the saints was complete bullshite. I doubt we will see anything that compares to that. He needed a scapegoat for their lawsuits. He wanted to make it look like they actually cared.
But hell even if he did tank who honestly cares. If the saints were stuck at 8-9 3 years in a row and there was the chance to get a legit franchise QB, I’d be all for the saints tanking to get them.

You actually have this wrong.
It's clear from the press release that they got zero penalty for everything in your screen shot. The draft picks, fines and suspensions they were levied today were strictly because of the tampering allegations relating to Brady and Payton.
