I posted this already on another board but ole Roger also said, "The cover up is worse than the crime."

I wish we had put up a suitable defense last week.

And those are the rules, right? Because how is this substantially different than the charge Goodell—with righteous indignation—levied against Saints head coach Sean Payton and general manager Mickey Loomis two years ago in the team’s bounty scandal? As you recall, ignorance wasn’t accepted as a defense when Payton and Loomis claimed they weren’t aware of what renegade defensive coordinator Gregg Williams was up to in his meeting room, with his bounty pool nonsense.

Goodell’s tough-guy stance was, If you didn’t know exactly what was going on in your program, that’s no excuse. You should have known. Case closed. Punishment dispensed.

I think we ran the ignorance package against the Falcons. Didn't work too well.

There is zero way possible there is not a smoking gun of some sort regarding the video, lack of video, seeing video, not seeing video. Every day for the past 4 months, Roger should have came to work and said WHERE's THE DAMN VIDEO? I NEED THE VIDEO!

Is this really hypocrisy though?

Are the situations/usage that similar?

Not siding with Goodell, just trying to get some more insight.

really this situation is worst on Goodell. For the past 5 months, the biggest jobs he had and public waiting was the punishment of Ray Rice and Jim Irsay. He made sure to not see that video. Or if he did, he is lieing. Every day he should have been active in obtaining that video. YOu really think the NFL just puts a singular request to someone, " hey can we have that video? No, oh ok, we'll be on our way now." Its been amateur hour in that office and Goodell is the front and center.

I personally think Roger has gotta fall on the sword on this one. He won't though.

So then the question becomes, will the OWNERS have enough balls to call for his ouster? I don't think they will since he's made em all a lot of money.

Rich Gannon on Sirius this morning was using our case as an example of why to get rid of ole Rog. If Sean Payton and Mickey Loomis got nailed for something that went on in the defense meeting rooms, then Roger is just as guilty. Ignorance is not an excuse, Roger.

The sad part of this thing is that our owner should be front and center speaking out against the hypocrisy of this situation. Of course our owner is a punch line to the executive branch and couldn't put two coherent sentences together when he wasn't senile. If you think these owners are going to fire this guy you are crazy. Roger Goodell talks of protecting the shield, what you need to understand is that his idea of "the shield" is that it solely belongs to the 32 owners. The ONLY way the owners fire Goodell is if sponsors pull out and it cost them money which is the only thing that these 32 men care about.

It's not fair to pin the actions of players such as Ray Rice, Ray McDonald, Greg Hardy, etc. on the commissioner
The commissioner isn't being faulted for their actions, he's being faulted for his own actions, which have either been lying/massive cover up or incompetence. It really comes down to only those 2 choices, to be honest.

I'd argue that the NFL is taking more of an image hit from Goodell's multiple botched investigations than they did from 1 player's elevator video of him knocking his wife out.

imo there should be NO player code of conduct. just acknowledge the FACT that some thugs are really good at football
Stan Van Gundy says this as well.

He says the legal system should punish them and that punishment should basically stand as their punishment, and there's no need for the NFL to add anything to it.
