You people saying offensive players are nuts.

Von Miller all the way.

2008 and 2011 prove that you can have all the offense you want. Without a defense it doesn't matter. shite, even with everything that happened last year we still went 7-9. The offense is fine.

Aldon Smith or Von Miller. Wouldn't mind Willis and Lofton in the middle of our 3-4 either. :fap:

But those who mentioned CJ.. Good lord it would be fun to watch. Even though our offense is already fun to watch.

While Megatron would certainly make the offense unstoppable, our QB will still likely throw for 5,000 yards without him so I'm going to go with a young defensive playmaker.

I hear you but all 5000 yard seasons aren't equal. I think Calvin would let the offense start quicker and force the opposing offenses to match. Adding 1 defensive stud to a shite defense helps in freeing up other guys to an extent but I'd rather have arguably one of the greatest offenses of all time both statistically and from a "holy shite how are we going to prepare for that" standpoint. We have a great offensive system but outside of Graham and Sproles I wouldn't say we have any skilled players that would stand out anywhere else. Our statistics may not be far and away better (although its possible they would be) but if we're scoring early and often you can bet the opposing team is going to frick up more trying to keep up/tread water. Also it would be a lot easier to run the ball if opponents are planning around Brees, Megatron, Graham, and, Colston. Running keeps the defense fresh and shortens the game.

We know our other offensive players would be able to execute if Megatron was taking a constant double team and execute well. Taking a young pass rushing stud like Miller, Smith, or Pierre Paul off of a team like Denver, San Francisco, or NY that has other good pass rushers helping to take double teams away, and provide overall help attacking the qb isn'ta sure thing in that on OUR defense as ccurrently constructed would be able to take advantage when said young pass rusher would be focused on every game by the opposing offenses.

2008 and 2012 were similar in that we put up great final game stats but we didn't convert on a ton of key situations. In 2011 everyone remembers the defensive collapse but not that the D kept us in for a good portion of the game while the Offense struggled. Also how many times last year did we have 14-17 points fairly late in the games. Or go 3 and out 2 or 3 tines in a row in the middle of games? We out up a shitload of final stats trying to catch up but like I said all 5000 yard seasons aren't even.

The defense is definitely the much much bigger issue but we'realways going to be what we are a pass/offense ffirst team. Might as well be the greatest ever under This hypothetical.

The forgotten Larry Fitzgerald on offense.

On defense, someone young so either Von Miller or Luke Kuechly (I think he will be someone we will hate having to face 2x's per year during his rookie contract)

Barbe Tiger, your kind of bs is why people get their hackles up against the born agains. This is a freaking sports board. Try to keep your religious beliefs off it.

I have to think you probably turn more people off Christianity than you turn onto it.

Heaven forbid, but since it's just fantasy I'd prolly go Aaron Rodgers at age 29. I'd then parlay Brees for Demarcus Ware and some premium draft picks.

We've already had that without a CJ is my point. I mean obviously it would be great, but I don't think the offense's ceiling is much higher as it already is.

In this situation I just don't see how anyone couldn't pick a defensive player...especially after last year.
I'll put Patrick Peterson as a close second as well, but I think a Von Miller would make the secondary as a whole look much better.

Good Question.

My candidates: Patrick Willis, Patrick Peterson, Richard Sherman, Haloti Ngata, J.J. Watts, JPP, Adrien Peterson, Andrew Luck, Calvin Johnson and Von Miller.

I want to win now w/ Brees as my QB, so I really want to take a Von Miller or one of the Patricks. But I've gotta take Andrew Luck as the heir apparent to Drew Brees.

QB is too important in the NFL and the difference between having a chance and not having a chance. It would be in the best interest in the long term to have a stud QB waiting in the wings to take over for Brees and insure we can compete for the next decade or two, not just the next few years.

I guess I look at it this way. Megatron replacing Devery or Toon seems like much more significant upgrade to the overall benefit of the team than Miller, Smith/ etc replacing Junior/Martez/etc.

The 49ers have the best front seven since the recent rule changes and they got scored on A LOT throughout the playoffs. With our average aging WRs and 20 M dollar qb, and the way the league has devolved into flag football I want to score as consistently as possible.

Even with our offense hitting some low points this year, we still were a top scoring offense. How did that work out this year?

And notice that Seattle, San Fran and Baltimore all have really good defenses. Or what passes for good defenses now a days.

Yes but we also really struggled earlier in games and we're often putting garbage pointsat the end . Also against the decent defenses we played:sf , ATL, Denver we struggled quite a bit. Easy to pad stats against Oakland and downward spiraling Tampa.

The 3 teams you mentioned also were run first teams for large parts of the year which tend to shorten the game and keep overall scoring lower.
