If being good is all it takes to sign someone then sign'em all like soph said
Vincent Jackson, Sidney Rice, Steve Smith, Malcolm Floyd, Randy Moss, Mike Williams...
Maybe if there was a salary cap in Madden we might get less of these discussions ya think?

Yes what a fricking ridiculous thread on my part to wonder if we should acquire a player at a position of need. I haven't seen what kind of money Holmes will be asking for yet so it is something that should be ok to at least ponder at this point.

I almost prefaced my obvious answer of "of course" with "not considering salary cap, contract, strike, etc"....but I thought that was kind of implied here. Basically, if you can land Santonio, do you go after him? And my answer is without a doubt you do.

Dude. Don't ponder on this board. I learned that the hard way. You will get eaten alive

My point is I don't think threads about everyone of those wide receivers is needed.
Better discussion might be-
Wide Receivers: Do We Need a New One?
"position of need" is relative. Do you think that is more needed than a pounding RB? A playmaking OLB? A speed rushing DE? A top notch secured LT?
Salary Cap: What can we expect in free agency this year?
We've had a few good threads on that already. The most common consensus is don't expect any high profile big money signings- Deangelo Williams, Chad Greenway, Holmes etc. Expect one or two role players that are more at an affordable level- Michael Bush, Rocky McIntosh, Barry Cofield, etc.

depending on what Holmes wants I think he's a very gettable player, so this thread isn't out of the box.
Do you really want me to start going through your 80 threads a day and determine which are needed and un needed? How about another "where are they now?" for a blast from the past player like David Patten. Hmmm wonder what that retro player is doing these days.

What Holmes will get will make him very ungettable, just IMO. That and then I would put WR need behind DE, DT, LB, RB, OT and possibly SS & C. I could see making a big money case for Chad Greenway but a WR?
Not one for history?
There usually seems to be good response to where are they nows. I don't have any prob with critique myself.
How bout this? Instead of writing in a name and saying "should we?" make just a little effort to make a case of why such a player fits the team in need or as a good salary cap fit. That's all I was trying to point to or we could "Vincent Jackson should we? Sidney Rice should we?" forever.

Do you even have to ask? Easily one of the best WR in the game.
One of the best in the game? You must mean as in Top 20 or Top 25, because I can easily run off 10 names of WRs who are more consistantly better than Santanio Holmes.

Should we?
After we address the D.E. position and the outside L.B. position and the D.T. and the power running back position and after we re-sign or get a new S.S. then we re-sign our free and resticted free agents then if we have any money left I would not have a problem if he wants to play for us.
