They'd need the Bucs to lose to the Panthers on the last weekend.

Saints lose all tiebreakers with any teams in the wildcard race. And lose tiebreakers with the Bucs for division. Unless the Bucs drop another division game.

Edited: yes, it matters if the Bucs lose to the Jags this Sunday. Saints would need that. (My mistake)

I hope we lose by 70 so we can get a new coach.

Huh? If the Saints and Bucs both lose this weekend, they'd both be 7-8 and would both control their own destiny to win the division.

Wait, actually I'm wrong. It definitely matters if the Bucs lose to the Jags if the Saints lose tonight. That'd still give Saints control.

They'd be tied 7-8 heading into the Bucs-Saints game.

Face it, they are already eliminated. Where do you really think they’re going with this team?

Yep, sorry not enough coffee.

Basically, the Saints need the Bucs to stumble Sunday if they lose tonight, or else the Bucs can still lose to the Saints and be fine.

wtf are you talking about?

If the saints, falcons and Bucs are all 7-8 with the Falcons and Bucs being left on our schedule then we still control our own destiny to win the division

I get it. The positive of losing to the hated Rams is that maybe, just maybe, we can blow this whole thing up and start over.

Except that it's not true. But you'd rather act like you know everything and be all negative like many others on ST.

If the Saints go L/W/W, they still don't control their own destiny unless the Bucs lose 2 out of 3.

wrong.

Presupposing Saints lose to LA and win against CAR and ATL:

1. Bucs lose to EITHER Carolina or Jacksonville (in addition to the Saints);

OR

2. We can still get a WC if Seattle and Minnesota lose 2 games each

Seattle (not likely but possible): Titans, Steelers, Cardinals
Minnesota: Detroit 2x; Green Bay

Saints have a 3% chance at the Wildcard and 17% chance at the NFC South with a loss tonight. It's all but over tonight with a loss.

What's crazy is that Minnesota still has a decent chance of winning their division.
