would any of the players have protested that?

Also, Payton does not seem to mind being gone for a year.

That's because Payton has to be reinstated at the end of the year pending on how he acts this year.

If his suspension was fixed like Vitt's I imagine he would have had more to say on the subject

Hargrove got an 8 game suspension, Fujita got 3 IIRC, and both are fighting it, so I'd say yes.

Id say no if it was 4 games or less. 8 games is still half of the entire season. 4 games is an every year occurrence for someone like Will Smith.

Honestly if Vilma got 4 and the rest one or two, and Payton got 8 games, I really think this would have blown over. But Goodell feeling the need to make a statement really bit him in the arse.

It's my understanding SP's suspension is for one year (NFL football year). SP can rejoin the Saint's at 12 midnight the day after the 2014 Super Bowl. But that does not mean SP can act like a jackass (according to Goodell) and violate the terms of this suspension. I expect SP to generally lay low and if he is cornered by the media he'll speak the NFL line to make Goodell happy. But that does not mean Goodell would change the terms of the suspension on a whim.

On the other hand, GW has been suspended indefinitely. Which basically means to me that Goodell will reinstate GW when ever he wishes. Probably after GW kisses Goodell's ring.

The suspension is for one year, but Payton still has to be reinstated after it. So coming out to the media and campaigning against Goodell probably isn't a good idea.

when it’s time for NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to decide if Payton will be reinstated once his one-year suspension is up.

If he would have done 4 across the board I imagine they still would have appealled but I dont think they would have sued.

Pretty sure there was an article on these boards that that recorded basically every player a defense injured, and showed that in those 3 seasons, the Saints injured the 2nd fewest amount of players.

ANyone know where I can find a link to that, or did I make it up?

Sweet. I looked over the 1st 5 pages of this board like 5 times and never saw it lol.

I was busy when I first saw the thread and didn't really get to view much of the link.

Thanks
