The Browns are definitely not taking LF7 at #1.

Oh I agree. But that's why I also said they could obtain more draft picks. If CHI wants a QB, like a lot of these mocks are saying, they could try and jump the 9ers to get "their guy". I don't think it's a stretch at all, even at 3, that they take LF7 there. But, they love Garrett apparently so it's all most likely a mute point anyway.

Your seeing this more and more. Rodgers, Cam, Brady all practice this patience and standing pat. Both were asked about it

I noticed that too. Watson isn't the most accurate on deep curls & outs but he has great ball placement on deep balls outside the numbers as well as down the seams. He had touch on a screen pass where he had to get the ball over a defender's head & it was beautiful.

Payton has been with Brees & the Saints for so long, that we forget Payton has coached other QBs. He did wonders for guys like Quincy Carter & Kerry Collins elsewhere. I think Watson could really develop behind Brees & with Payton teaching him. Those fundemental flaws would get cleaned up through coaching.

With that said, Watson would be a pick for the future. We are closer to being a contender right now. An immediate impact defensive player will go a long way to improving the team's chances to win the division & making the playoffs next season. Watson earned himself a lot of money last night & probably solidified himself as a top 10 pick. He will be slightly out of range making a move up to get him extremely costly. I would hope the organization stays put at #11 to take a defensive end.

So did Vince Young. How did that work out?

What the hell???

I like Watson. I think he has potential. We have bigger needs at the moment.

Right state, wrong team. The Jets need a QB & a face of their franchise to put butts in the seats badly. They need a game changer at QB as well as someone who will create a buzz with that fanbase. Jets will take him at #6.

Dobbs will be available much later in the draft. He is not going to be a 1st rounder. He may not come off the board until the 3rd or 4th round.

C'mon man, you know that isn't a fair comparison. Young was never on the level as a passer at Texas as Watson has been at Clemson. Young was always a take off & run QB while Watson hangs in the pocket, looking for the throw downfield. I don't want to draft Watson either, not with having other needs but he is night & day compared to VY.

I am of the opinion that next season is without a doubt this front offices "last stand"

Benson is not getting any younger. Brees will be 38. Loomis & Payton cannot have another bad season, no matter how much any of us think they have an infinite leash. They do not. So for every major party involved, 2017 is the "last stand"

They have a reasonable amount of cap room: currently 22nd, but we have almost no one to resign so I think once other teams start re-signing their players prior to FA we will see us go up here. Also, as Bonethug and some others have outlined, we can increase our room roughly ~10M from a few easy moves.

So we finally have some cap room and a decent roster. I think they will go all out. They will backload as many FA deals as they can with small hits for 2017 and they will trade up in the draft if there is a guy they think can make an immediate impact.

I do not see them making a pick like Watson because it is a long-term move and everyone who has a stake in the game with this team's days are numbered.

That said, if we were in a different place as an organization I could get behind this pick as a developmental thing. I've long supported finding Brees' successor while he is still on the roster.

ha well yeah. If the Browns take him it may be a bullet dodged. They are just pulled to busts.

They are different. I'm drawing the comparison that the poster said about him single handedly winning the game. But VY did a lot of drills and such that had people convinced he was an accurate passer. Hence him going so high in the draft.

I don't see that "must have QB" this year. If someone like Kaaya or Falk drops and we get a value pick, I wouldn't mind that. Just not a QB in the first round.

I gotcha. Just remember though, that was Titans owner's Bud Adams choice. Jeff Fisher did not want anything to do with Vince Young. If Adams doesn't force the pick on Fisher, Young probably slides down further.

I'm with you there.

I personally think Pat Mahomes will be the jewel of this class & he is set to go much later. Josh Dobbs has a lot of upside & he will go later too but he needs a lot of polishing before he is ever ready to take a snap in the NFL.

Look, I'm sorry. Some quarterbacks are just better then others. I understand you're argument. Others may feel that way to.

Theirs a lot to evaluating talent and let's just admit that we are both novices at best when it comes to evaluating there talent.

Can't you say that about 90% of the QBs out there.
