All hope is lost and i'm 10000% on the bandwagon of fire his arse. If he can't have big enough balls to make this change and insert his presence and influence on the team to give this offense a fighting chance and rejuveniation of sorts then frick him.

Ronald Curry deserves a shot. Maybe the lack of familiarity of him can give us an advantage over next few weeks. Curry can call plays like he don't give no fricks.

Does DA move Pete to the side or does he go the Jim Mora route.

I honestly don't think Benson/Loomis will let Carmichael be embarrassed like that. He's too much a part of the organization. They are the ones who thought this "continuation of the Payton era/system" was optimal, so shitting on Carmichael is basically shitting on Allen and proclaiming everything we've done for 2 years has been completely wrong.

For the emotional-attachment reasons as well as the arrogance of the top of our organization, I just don't see it.

Pete can go back to his beta role for now of being a qb coach and game plan assistant of helping Curry like he helped Payton.

This isn't a Loomis nor Gayle decision. This is a Dennis Allen decision whether he knows it or not. And if DA doesn't know this, then he's not fit to be a HC in the NFL. It's his head coaching career on the block, do you want to fight for it or not.

If we had an earlier bye week, I could see it happening.

With a late one, its hard to see them actually doing it. DA is extremely "risk" averse

3 TD's in four games. Last in points scored. His head is on the block right now and he knows it. If thats not a risk he can see... I don't know.

They could 100% veto his call.

Allen took this job as a puppet, remember. He doesn't have carte blanche. Like I said yesterday.

Allen is basically a patsy and avatar of his ownership and management

Benson/Loomis have more association and attachment to Carmichael than Allen. He only gets embarrassed if they give the OK.

I mean what data do we have on Curry's playcalling?

Other than a brief stint in SF (2014 Greg Roman and Geep Chryst in 2015, which was historically bad) as an offensive assistant, Curry has been a part of this offense. He doesn't have any experience under another coaching system worth a shite and he has 0 scheming/playcalling experience.

DA let him call a game in pre season for a reason. Not for no reason.

Curry may be better, but when assessing the risk, it's hard to say that Curry isn't riskier than losing Carmichael, considering his history. If he had cut his teeth under another system that was good, then that would be another story. He could bring some ideas and concepts to freshen things up.

But he's institutionalized, like Carmichael. That's why this whole "continuation of the Payton era" was so idiotic, and then doubling down by selling out our future to win now tripled down on the lunacy.

Curry has been working under this some offensive philosophy since 2016. Going to him can’t be any worse but if we are wanting to get away from this system we need to clean out all of these offensive couching holdovers

There has been a trend with other teams too of letting top Offensive Assistants call Preseason games.

It likely does not hurt that he is black because now they would get a pick for him if anyone wants him as OC.

Anyone on this staff, to me, is not an answer long term

We need a completely new offensive philosophy
