@RapSheet: A stunner: Former starting center Bryan Stork is being released by the #Patriots today, I'm told. Crazy.

Does he want to be a back up center?

He started a game at RT last year, probably versatile, could he be better economical for than Unger in future?

Maybe he fessed up to the deflates...

He also played Guard in that same game.
He's young and they didn't free up much cap space. I wonder what the reasoning was
Edit: Thrown out of practice last week

Was high on him, thought we should have drafted him

According to Pats fans, he's injury prone and regressed a lot last season.

Seems he's had 4 concussions in 4 years. One of those was earlier in the preseason.

Betting he doesn't clear waivers.

Were they saying that before the release?

Can he play Guard?....
center switching to guard is not a bad transition if he has the head for it. this should not be an issue

He can take Lelitos roster spot

Judging from his draft profile he does have experience playing Guard at Florida State, but those injuries... Still worth a waiver pick up, although I feel like if the Saints wanted him we would have sent a 7th round pick, given our relationship with the Pats.
Looks like the Pats tried him at Guard as well.

Redshirted in 2009. Appeared in 10 games in '10, starting four at right guard. Missed two games (mono). Started 10-of-12 games played in '11, including eight at center, two at left guard -- did not play against Boston College and did not start against Miami (migraines), then suffered a finger injury against Florida which became infected and nearly required amputation. Started all 13 games played at center in '12. Sat out against Savannah State (neck). Was limited during '13 fall camp while recovering from toe surgery. On the season, started all 13 games played at center for the national champs and won the Rimington Trophy as the nation's top center. Did not play against Wake Forest (ankle). Did not participate in any physical testing at the NFL Scouting Combine because of injuries to his left knee and both shoulders (medical exclusion).

Draft Analysis: "He's got some interior versatility. He can play center or guard. He's smart, understands blitz pickups and the nuances of playing offensive line." -- Mike Mayock

1. One of the questions facing the Patriots is what to do at center with impressive undrafted rookie David Andrews having played every snap this season, but with 2014 starter Bryan Stork (concussion) ready to return to action after opening the season on the injured reserve/designation to return list. I was told Stork worked at guard this week in practice, and his teammates view him as a player who shouldn’t have much of an issue making that transition from center. Stork played both guard spots at Florida State as a freshman, but has exclusively been at center since. The Patriots have had a run of injuries at guard, so it makes sense that the 6-foot-4, 310-pound Stork would initially figure into that guard mix in 2015 while Andrews stays at center. As one player explained to me, "He filled a role last year, and now he’s stepping into a new role."
