But it is a bit ridiculous that he chose to have surgery late in the off-season
Not to mention a suspension for fighting

So, MT has just one year left on his $100 mil contract i.e. 2023....IF he's even able to participate next season, the Saints will be required to pay him another $20 mil ! I hope the 'negotiation team' has learned its lesson here and at most provides/offers a heavy incentive package to him at that point ! Given his recent belligerent behavior...he will decline ANY reasonable offers from the Saints and move on to free agency = GOOD RIDDANCE !

we take an 11+mil hit, but save over 16mil. that's gonna happen. his cap number next year is through the roof.
