I know it's early...but is anyone getting a 2007 Patriots vibe for this year?

I know....I know. You'll ask how can you make such a prediction not even having gone through Training Camp? I don't know, but this feels special. Payton coming back from an entire year away to sit, stew, and learn. A new, fiery defensive mind who just might finally figure out how to get the right production out of these guys by infusing youth and competition. I think the Payton revenge tour starts in the dome against the Falcons, and this year there will be no prisoners. Sean, Drew, and Ryan are leading us to the promised land and will hoist that Lombardi flicking Goodell off as they lift.

Good god I can't wait

Come on.

The entire offseason last year was spent talking about how we were gonna get revenge on Goodell and take our hate out on the rest of the league

Then our defense took the field week 1...

No.

This is a 10, maybe 11 win team.

I wouldn't say that either. They are capable of more than 10-11 wins. I've stated before that this defense hasn't always been bad, and while using a lot of the same guys that are still there. 09-11 used a similar scheme, although it was a 4-3, to the Ryan 3-4. They both rely on attacking and sending pressure from various spots.

I'm not saying it will be a jump back to the middle of the pack like those seasons, which is all this team needs, but there's a very good chance it does. The attacking 3-4 scheme is even more suited for this personnel than the 4-3.

I dunno about Patriots of 07, but I too have a feeling this season could be special. Last season I tried to convince myself of that, but it never felt right. It really all hit home for the first game, where things felt off from the start. I am, like a good bit on this board, very optimistic about the team. This year I am optimistic, but also confident we will see a winning team. If the defense comes close to middle of the pack or better, we will indeed have a very special season.

People were hoping we would get to stick it to Goodell. I don't think anyone in their right mind expected it. Our success this year will depend on how we convert to the 3-4. Plain and simple.

We won 13 games in '11 with a shitty defense so i am looking for at least 13 this year with an NFC title game. But nobody really knows especially if injuries start to mount up.

Totally agree with this! I have been saying if our D is middle of the road we are dangerous! I also think Drew tried to do too much last season, and with Payton back it takes that pressure off Drew, and lets him just focus on his game and beast mode!

I'm willing to bet my life that we go 19-0
