1. The offensive line meshes/we realize it's not that bad.
2. PJ Williams and Harris turn around and locate the ball and turn touchdowns into interceptions.
3. Spiller and Fleener turn into solid weapons.
4. Rankins comes back in week 6 and we bring an average pass rush up to good
5. Brees rips it up with his best supporting cast in his career or since 2011
6. Saints go 10-6 or 11-5

Call me optimistic, but those young corners were on elite WR's tonight like gloves. If they learn to turn around, we are reading a different Mike Triplett blog post game. It's the little things that we need to get better with. We have enough talent to make the playoffs with Drew Brees as our QB.

If I'm wrong (I'm not), all the young talent we've added over the last 2 years is not all for nothing. It may take one awful year, but it's not hard to rebound in the NFL.

Ok, I'll bite.

1. I don't think it's a question of the offensive line meshing. There are health issues stacked on top of that, and what I perceive to be a lack of talent at guard, the most important position for one Drew Brees. Sooo, no.

2. Maybe they do, but that doesn't mean they turn into interceptions. That's a lot of work to do and if they figure it out, it'll be too late in the season to matter.

3. See no. 1. Quarterback has to be upright for this to work.

4. Possibly. It sounds crazy but the defense is the least of my worries at this point.

5. No way. I'd be my salary in that one. This guy is going to get hurt this year. Book it.

6. Saints go 7-9 or .500 at best. They stand a snowball's chance in hell of getting to a double digit win season. See no. 1.

This whole defense being not being our worry is ridiculous. Our offense performed amazing last year and couldn't finish leads. DEFENSE IS THE KEY THIS YEAR

Yup. Unfortunately e won't, because we have a coaching problem on this team.

Not a player problem
Not a talent problem.

A serious coaching problem. Especially on defense.

Yea Antonio Brown didn't make any plays.

I know you are the ultimate posi-saint, but you cant honestly believe this can you? Do you mean just wide receivers? Because when you consider the whole football team, this is the worst supporting cast Brees has had in his career as a saint.

You are in for a long wait.

1. The Saints were getting manhandled in individual matchups. Their OL woes are not issues of learning assignments and developing coordination.

2. The TDs weren't the worst plays by the Saints DBs. There were too many medium range passes in which Steeler receivers were wide open. The Saints DB problems are made worse by the Saints inability to get pressure on opposing QBs without blitzing.

3. Not until #1 above is fixed.

4. What gives you the idea the Saints have an average pass rush without Rankins? They need to blitz to have any prayer of pressuring the QB.

5. Pump the brakes on the supporting cast. The Saints don't have any offensive players, other than Brees and maybe Ingram, who would challenge for a starting job on the team they played last night.

6. That Saints will be lucky to go 6-10 when their defense struggles to keep opponents under 30 points per game.

Other teams add young talent annually as well. And from my perspective many are better than the Saints at evaluating talent. The Saints young talent doesn't look like it is anything special. The Saints are more than one awful year from being a winning team.

In the first quarter according to Henderson, Armstead and his backup was the only one who gave up pressure, and he did it over and over again.

We know he's a great player

Well if Henderson said so. My comment wasn't limited to pass blocking. The Saints were manhandled at the point of attack on their running plays too often.

Who are the OL, WR and TE on the Saints roster who would challenge for starting jobs with Pittsburg?

Well I don't think he was calling at the wrong name and number over and over again

Armstead, our worst player yesterday, would start for them and basically every other team in the NFL.

Heard of him?

I mean offensive weapons.

And to the Antonio brown comment I'm saying devante Harris was on him like a glove and just didn't turn around on that touchdown pass. I know they need time

Ok, poodlebrain.

Brandin Cooks, Terron Armstead, and Coby Fleener.....have you been following the team?

Edit: And I couldn't say Snead/Thomas definitely wouldn't be in there top 3 wide receivers. They are thin this year after AB

1. If Peat plays up to par, we only have one true hole on that OL.

2. It's gonna take a year to figure out how to see a receivers eyes staring straight up at a flying pigskin?

3. See, Fleener and Spiller showed their value last night despite this wretched OLine I keep hearing about

4. If you really think our defense will be more of an asset than this offense, I'll take it because that means we are winning a Super Bowl.

5. You're gonna bet your salary on something that has happened every year since 2006.....Brees has never ever had a significant injury here. Why does that start now?

6. Stop tempering your expectations. Every team in the NFL has a sliver of a chance to win 10 games in a given season. And we have Drew Brees

Ugh.

1. We only have one "true" hole? What does that even mean? Btw I sure hope our starting LT stays healthy, because that man isn't close to being 100% as of now. That kinda shoots your theory up a bit if he isn't.

2. Well, you said a year. I said by the time they do, it'll be too late. So, don't start putting words where they don't belong. That timeframe? I'd say give them half the season, to maybe get up to speed. By that time, I don't think this team will be in the thick of the playoff hunt unless the NFC just lays an egg this year.....which it might.

3. Spiller won't stay healthy enough to make your point, as his track record shows, and judging Fleener after one game is a little presumptuous given the fact that people around here like yourself keep screaming that it's just the preseason and that we shouldn't judge this team as of yet. Take your own advice if you're willing to give it out. I'd hardly say Fleener proved anything last night anyway.

4. Again, you're reading into some words too much. Saying the defense is better at this point than the offense is like saying that drinking spoiled milk tastes better than gargling hot cheddar. One is just the lesser of two evils, not a goddamn asset. Asset as a term ensues a positive resource...id say the defense is just a little more positive than the offense, both on the negative side of a number line.

5. For frick's sake, did you watch any football last year? Do you remember who played QB at Carolin.....you know, never mind. Apparently, a significant injury to you must mean the man needs to be retired with a Kurt Warner like hit. I said injury. Brees will get hurt by this line at some point this year and will miss at least one game. If your starting QB misses game time, that's significant, unless you think he doesn't mean all that much to this team's success.

6. I have tempered them because of the reasons you have most eloquently have stated. Apparently he doesn't mean all that much to this team if we don't really have an offensive line working well to protect him, run the ball with, or that if he misses time....well; that's not significant.

Keep up the positivity though. I'm sure it's pretty good at all the parties.
