Say the prognosis on Brown comes back negative causing him to miss specific amount of time. What about the possibility of signing John Runyan to a one year deal if Bushrod doesnt show much. The saints are about 5 million under the cap. What say you.

I say go with someone on the roster, we may have to start preparing for life without Jammal Brown anyways with his contract coming up soon.

yeah, but taking a chance on LT, means you are taking a chance with Brees' Health. Too risky a proposition imo

I thought about that, too...but he's all but a lock to resign with the Eagles.

How about Kwami Harris, Jonas Jennings or Levi Jones?

true Runyan has played RT his career, but the move would allow flexibility along the line.

not so. Bored and tossing ideas. Many of our lineman can play several positions and Id be almost positive that Runyan could do the same. BTW I don't play Madden. Im an NCAA guy.

My personal opinion would be to move Nicks out to LT immediately if JB is hurt. Sign Runyan and move him to guard if he could play it.

Carl Nicks moves over, does so well they just gradually ease Brown back in the 2nd half of the season. Nicks continues to spell him thereafter. After winning the Super Bowl the Saints trade Brown for a 1st & 2nd Rd draft pick. Nicks moves back permanently in '10 and makes Pro Bowl 6 times.

if we're talking hypothesis

Personally I was just talking about a stop gap IF the worst is to happen but I would take that. Brees is the leader of the Saints, no question, and we need his blind side covered. This is a way more critical situation than the looming suspensions. And besides Im just bored and talking.

You plug someone in at LT and basically lose our TE as a receiving threat because we will need them to help pass protect more.

Yes cause we won't need that if our 3rd string LT is rushed in ther, I know what your saying but this is arguably one of the top 5 positions on a team and Im just throwing thoughts around. Im not knocking bushrod either. I hope the cat comes out and we never miss a step.

Look for someone that can replace him so we won't have as many holding penalties and false starts
