Well I was born in '69 so the saints were 2 years old when i was born.... I started watching them religiously in 84' but i watched a bunch of there games before that sitting with my dad. I cant remeber the exact year but I remeber clearly watching Dalton hilliard, eric martin, ricky jakckson and pat swilling through the years. I remeber when we had a decent team but we were unlucky because we were in the 49'ers division. Now at the age of forty after sitting through so many seasons only to fall short of our goal were finally here!!! Cmon' boys its right in front of you, just reach out and TAKE that title!!! WHO DAT!!

Charlton Heston was so bad at throwing the football that they used footage of Billy Kilmer instead.
That in and of itself is a pretty scary thought, becuase Billy didn't have the prettiest passes.

Be sure to watch all three parts. Also note "Angola Vince" Marinello.

I believe someone on here said last year when the cardinals went that it was our turn next. I kind of started thinking "why the hell not" then

My first Saints game in the mid 80's was against Indy oddly enough. I remember walking through snow to get to the dome. The Saints won like 40 to 6 or something like that and it kept Indy from going to the playoffs.

I loved going to games in old Tulane stadium. I was just a kid, so I'm sure everything seemed "more bigger" than it actually was. But, I can still smell and just "feel" the electricity and atmosphere of those games. The Superdome has just never really compared.
My dad wasn't into any sports. As I kid, I tried to get him into the Jazz and Pistol Pete. While he did his fatherly duty and took me to the games, he was just never into it.
But he LOVED the Saints. And, he LOVED taking me to games in old Tulane Stadium. I never could figure out why he didn't follow any sports, other than the Saints, but I was glad he did.
I can remember it like it was yesterday. We always parked up by the Tulane married student dormitory on Claiborne and would enter the stadium from the northwest side. I can remember walking up and seeing all of these vendors with the many pennants in a shopping cart.
My dad would buy me those old "PRO" gameday programs with the Falstaff Chinman schedule doubloons inside. Ican still remember the Archie Manning Frey Meats ad. I always use to beg my dad for a pennant and as a kid I had an awesome pennant collection.
I remember buying popcorn in those old "bullhorn" containers. After you finished with he popcorn, you could tear out the bottom and use it as a bullhorn.
I remember those old steel bleachers rocking back and forth when the Saints did ANYTHING. And, I remember looking into the back yards of all those stately houses on Audubon Blvd.
When the Saints were away, we would listen to Wayne Mac do the games on one of those old 70's console record players/8-track/radios. The thing was a HUGE piece of furniture which kind of dominated the living room. My dad and I would get so upset listening to the games, but our love for the Saints was something we got to share.
He and I went to the first couple playoff games i the Dome but he passed away before the Saints ever got a playoff win.
So, this Sunday, I'll definitely be thinking of my dad before, during and after the game.

Always hoped we would make it! I remember Buddy D saying, " waiting for the Saints to win the Superbowl is like leaving the porch light on for Jimmy Hoffa!" Well, looks like Hoffa is about to pull up in the driveway!

Man, your posts have been bringing back some memories tonight.
If you're as old as me, you may also have gone to the old Loyola Field House to watch the ABA Bucs.
When I arrive back home Saturday, one of the first things I'll do is go to my father and grandfather's graves at St. Louis #2. I'll bring a bottle of the beer that we all used to enjoy drinking and give them a toast. I'll tell them that I'm sorry that they won't be here with me but at least one of us made it to see this day. Cheers.

Remember the Pittsburgh Monday Night game? I forget the year ('74 maybe), but that was the COLDEST day I remember in Tulane Stadium. I did get to go to Super Bowl IX and it was miserable and drizzly the whole game, but it didn't seem nearly as cold as the Monday Night game against Pittsburgh.

Didn't make either of those games but I did go to Super Bowl 4 (Vikes and Chiefs.) That day and the days leading up to it had Minnesota folks feeling right at home.
My biggest memory of that game? My dad griping about how ridiculously expensive the $15 tickets were.

As a side note, my dad looked an awful lot like a cross between Buddy D. and Phil Johnson from WWL.
At one point, he brought his clothes to a local dry cleaner. He picked them up a few days later and as he was getting in his car, he noticed that the clothes underneath the clear wrapper weren't his. So, he brought them back and told the person that they gave him the wrong clothes. The woman looked at him, looked at the ticket, and said, "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't really look at the ticket. We do Buddy Diliberto's dry cleaning all the time and we put it on the side. I thought you were Buddy D."

I can still hear my dad bitching about the $25 ticket to Super Bowl IX. As I recall, Saints ticket were about $8.
ETA: And, of course, you could get Jazz tickets from Shoe Town for $2.

i never thought, maybe the end of the world is a couple years early
No lie, in middle school, I wore a saints shirt (had 16 of them) every day for two and half years straight,
even had a saints collar shirt for church!

I absolutely remeber that game. I remeber my mom smuggling hot chocolate in a huge thermos. i also remember the Saints getting stomped 28-7, i think Bradshaw had close to 100 yards on the ground.

While I always believed/hoped/rationalized, I don't think I truly believed like I did this year. I fooled myself to overlook the deficiencies. Even in 2006, while I thought we had a great team, there were the bad games against the Ravens, Bengals, and Steelers that year that made me think that fate would not let us out of Chicago alive.
This year, I knew since the Houston Texans preseason game that this team was a well-oiled machine, and that we would contend in the playoffs. After the Detroit game, I said we would win the South. Before the Jets game, I said we were Super Bowl caliber. No Saints team has ever made me this confident.
(BTW, it's 28 years for me. Was 13 years old; started following when Bum got hired in '81.

my 1st saints game was when O J simpson came to town in 1973 in tulane stadium. the saints won 13-0 and held O J under 100 yds in his record breaking season. I was 8 years old at the time. I remember riding a greyhound bus to the stadium from the westbank. Everyone got on the bus at the westside bowling alley parking lot
