Jobs are filling up pretty quickly. What if the Colts or somebody offer him something reasonable tomorrow? He can’t wait on us to figure out what we’re doing with Watson too much longer. What’s plan C?

I’ve been wondering this. Got to be humbling if you’re JW. I’d be taking whatever deal I could elsewhere if I’m him.

Pretty sure if the Colts really wanted him as the starter, they woukd have offered by now. His likely only shot at starting is with us.

I could see a scenario where Watson goes to Atlanta so Carolina makes a play to overpay Winston so we’re left without a QB

That’s been the likely destination thrown around. It makes senses. But i think Mayfield possibly being available might throw a wrench into that plan

he has no choice

he isnt anyones first choice right now, he is, at best, the backup plan for several teams and none will do anything until watson has a deal

You know the potential replacement is Deshaun Watson right?

Even on the mend, Winston is easily the best FA QB avilable. There are a multitude of teams, including the Saints, where Winston would be an upgrade to their current QB room.

Saints
Panthers
Seahawks
Bears
Lions
Eagles
WFT
Giants
Jags
Colts
Texans
Jets
Dolphins
Steelers

Considering how Baker Mayfield is getting his panties in a bunch just for the Browns inquiring about Watson, I could see Winston also feeling insulted and listening to other offers. The Watson destintion needs to be resolved ASAP/24hrs, if the Saints have to fall back on Winston.

He can wait till the Watson ordeal plays out, and then you have a bunch of desperate teams that swing and missed on watson throwing stupid money he wouldn't have gotten with us . That'll be the smart move for him

The fact of the matter is nobody is that interested in JW besides ESPN …. Matt Mascona & his disciples on this board. If you were a new coach getting his second and last chance as a HC would you want to throw all your eggs in the JW basket? I wouldn’t either.

I think the Watson, Jimmy G, and Baker scenarios need to play out.

The teams that miss out are going to be desperate.
