He doesn't have near the burst of Sproles or Bush. Better hands than PT.

I think hes a bigger Bush/Sproles with less speed

or

Hes a faster PT with slightly better hands

are more accurate I.M.O.

Kamara is one of the most elusive backs to come out of this draft. I saw alot of people on other forums say he wouldnt be good because he goes down on the first contact. Thats CMAC. Kamara is still making players miss tackles at the NFL level. He will be awesome to watch in this offense and 3rd rd for the number 5 rated RB was highway robbery.

could this guy be the best back in our stable as a rookie ?

Could be? Sure I suppose its possible. But lets wait until at least game one is over. MI and AP both would like to wear that moniker this year as well.

well to be fair, it was a 2nd and a 7th for Kamara.

PT had EXTREMELY good hands. How many passes do you recall him dropping?

That said I think Kamara's hands are as good as PT's, which are better than Bush's.

Kamara is definitely a lot like PT but he can run a few more receiver routes and has a little bit more explosiveness and break away ability, but not quite on the Sproles/Bush level.

if Edgerrin James and Darren Sproles tag teamed Marion Jones, the outcome would be Alvin Kamara.

To be fair to Alvin, we haven't seen the depth of what he is capable in this offense. Not that he is or will be better than AD or Ingram, but he will be utilized differently.

I stand corrected I meant this actually rather than better hands I meant he was a better receiver. Bone with the mop up duty FTW

I thought I was more than fair to him. PT was great in all phases of the game and possibly the best screen back of all time. Kamara's style is more similar to him than Ingram, Peterson, Bush, or Sproles but he has the capability to be used in more ways than PT in the passing game by taking on some of what Sproles and Bush did.

I agree, I do feel he could up being the steal of this draft . Watching him in college I knew this kid had something "different". He's not quite the freak fournette is but he's far more elusive , and wasn't beat on quite as bad in college since he shared carries with that other big back that quit the team .

I knew he was special when I watched him single handily do very well against Bamas defense . He may not have had a ton of stats but he put Tenn on his back against a far superior team . His vision is also far better than fournette .

a lot of that was just good play calling though. For awhile there the Saints usually hit for a big play when they ran it to him.

it would usually be on a 1st-and-10 or 2-and-10. I'm not sure whaT down they'd use Sproles for the most but especially in that playoff game in Seattle (January '14) their team speed on defense was too great anyway.

PT just had a great feel for running the screen, extremely patient and followed his blocks.

Agreed about PT cruiser , he was the definition of a great screen/3rd down back with absolutely amazing balance . There was some runs he pulled off that still amaze me that he kept his balance. The Super Bowl TD is a decent example, dude could weave through traffic with the best of them .

I feel Kamara could have the same effect on this offense , but Kamara has a higher upside. It may be a bit early to crown the guy but I watched him in college and could recognize his talent level making a shite team like the vols somewhat relevant.

plus there was more stability on the O-line then too.

Evans and Nicks were something else.

that was a great combo.

May be the best RB on team. Definitely better than Ingram. Time will tell how much Petersen has in the tank.

I think the Devonta Freeman comp by Blues is the best comp so far.
