How does the NFL determine how much to fine a player?

The Rams DB gets fined almost $27,000 for the helmet to helmet hit but Michael Thomas gets fined $30,000 for the cell phone bit earlier this season.

It just seems like the illegal hit should be a heavier fine to me. Especially since the NFL is so worried about player safety.

They aren't worried about player safety or CTE. The reason they pretend to be is so they can make bogus calls for or against the QBs.

The only rules that aren't subjective is encroachment/offsides, false start and delay of game. Every other penalty is subjective.

I've seen a few concussed players come back in the game after the hit

The NFL cares about one thing and one thing ONLY.... MONEY. The NFL doesn’t give a flying frick about player safety, they don’t give a frick about injuries. They only care about money... PERIOD

There is a set schedule of fines that has been approved by the Player's Association as part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Then the players are dumb. But they aren't playing this game because they are smart.

this ^^^^^^

the reason for the differences in fine numbers is because its based on a % of that players game check

a $20 million a year players fine is going to be way way higher then a $2 million a year players but they are both paying the exact same % of a game check

Why does the NFL get the fine? On a helmet to helmet hit the player receiving the blow should get the fine IMHO. They are the one losing the brain cells

I'm not sure where the money goes but I can assure you its destination was agreed upon by players and owners in the last collective bargaining agreement.
