So I guess you missed the deep passes to Meach and Moore?

whoever compared colstons drop to hendersons consistent, bankable, years old dropping problem.. is the dumbest sob i ever saw-

meach can stretch the field...clearly (oh yea... he can catch too)

I think they give him a little more room to prove that his best season (2 years ago?) wasn't a fluke. I do think the coaches need to stop trying to force him into trying be a well-rounded receiver. Its painfully obvious that he struggles with short passes, so stop throwing 10 yard routes to him that he's likely to drop, and just let him do what he is good at: run down the field and catch the deep ball. It's a knock on the play calling more than Devery, IMO. All that said, if he isn't performing by the 4th game or thereabouts, I would suspect his name might arise in trade rumors.

Meachem has proven to me that he can catch - especially in tight quarters. But I've yet to see him blow by anybody with his amazing speed a'la Donte Stallworth, Devery Henderson, or Reggie Bush all have at points in their career.

Hopefully he will at some point, but all of his "bombs" have been pseudo-diving catches in close quarters - I actually didn't see last night's but I heard it and it sounded like another nice read on the ball by Meach.

he blew by the defender on the deep ball he caught.. Brees under threw it and he read it perfectly and came back to catch it

im comfortable with colston, patten and henderson out there as a trio. if meach and moore get some catches, all the better.

I agree. Everyone knows what Colston can do, and Patten has shown that he's still a quality player. I'm also of the opinion that Meachem and Moore are both solid WR's, at the very least.

it was a catch lance moore would make.

Lance Moore can not get open in real NFL games. But he does make the cutest 15 yard preseason catches ever though so thats pretty awesome.

So is Devery worth a fantasy pick? like 10th round or so?

And you can't teach speed. he brings a lot to the Offense, just by being on the field.

If speed were that important, Bennie Brazell and Donte Stallworth would be All-Pros.

Devery will definently be on the final roster. Teams will have to respect his deep speed. This will open up a lot of underneath routes for Colston. I still don't like Meachem !!!!!!!!!

I don't think judging one player's talent makes another better or worse. I'm not a big fan of either Henderson or Moore. They're really two different types of receivers. Devery is a threat for his speed, Moore for his hands. No one picked up DH as a free agent this year so the hands do have to be recognized as what they are.
Henderson

Moore

May the best receiver win

he drops those too. Actually, he drops the wide open ones and actually makes some of the hard catches

I've contended this forever. Once every couple of games he hauls in some spectacular big game breaking play. Then he will miss several long perfect lofts into his hands or ones right at the numbers for a simple first down. Gamebreaker but not enough singles for my liking. Andruw Jones is the beisbol analogy.

I know that Moore gets made fun of for being slow on this board, but did you fellas not see the cornerback he beat on Saturday night? Former Pro Bowler Deltha O'Neal.

He catches everything, plays well enough on special teams, and does whatever it is the coaches ask of him. I don't love the guy by any stretch, but for someone who goes out on the field and just does his job without many errors time and time again sort of plays himself onto the team.

That said, I think they'll keep Colston, Meachem, Patten, Moore, Henderson and Copper (who gets to stay on because he's good on special teams and that Arrington will probably be on PUP or IR).
