What would your reaction have been?

If jimmy graham was bear hugged in the endzone and the ball intercepted by another player on the road

I know what ESPN's reaction would have been.

Sneak preview: it wouldn't be the top story. It wouldn't be the 15 story.

Unless it was against the Patriots. Then it would have been "BILL BELICHICK IS A DEFENSIVE GENIUS!"

Is this a serious question?

We'd be upset.

I'd be pissed, as I'm sure Pats fans are, and should be.

Trick question. Graham would have still made the catch and/or Brees would have put the ball on the money. Next question.

How do they pick up the flag with no explanation? Why did they throw it in the first place?

I agree picking it up without explanation was stupid, but they knew it was in favor of the home crowd and quite honestly, their fans probably don't care why or how it was picked up as long as it's picked up...

Now, before you read the rest of this please understand that I think full-heartedly it was PI or at least holding, but supposedly, there cannot be PI called on the play if the ball is intercepted before it reaches the player in target. IMO, I feel Gronk was held from competing for the pass and that would warrant a PI call in my book... But whatever... If Ridley doesn't fumble in the Red zone we probably wouldn't be having this conversation. It is what it is.

All you have to do is get one player to tackle or push the receiver out of the area of the ball and have another player intercept it.

Yes we'd be mad.

We were mad at the pats game with the no-call on the holding.

They got it wrong. Can we move on now? We need to handle our own business with them in a few weeks.

This is wrong btw. If the ball is catchable, it's still PI so long as the contact happened before the tip/interception. The joke of the call last night is that the officials claimed Gronk couldn't have possibly touched the ball despite seeing him being bear hugged and carried to the back of the end zone while trying to turn back to the ball.

It was crap to allow such a blatant disregard for the rules to be rewarded.

It seems the officiating is at an epic state of badness this season. Something has gotta change. Between Goodell and the refs, the league is turning into a farce.

I've been saying this all season, including in college. It's not even just bullshite home field advantage calls late in games (you seem to have those every year). It feels like the officiating overall throughout games in all leagues has been shite much more than normal.

That is, it's not calls being made just to benefit one team or another, it's just poor officiating overall.

no, because it was intercepted in a spot that they felt gronk even uninterfered with couldnt have gotten to.even if LK doesnt push gronk has to totally change direction 180 degrees, and get through 2 bodies to make a play on the ball.

gronk never made a real effort to get back which certainly hurts his case for being able to catch that ball if not for the grab.
