Athletic and instinctive from high safety. Easy hips with smooth feet in his backpedal. Able to play from deep positioning and still make plays on the ball. Good recognition of quarterback?s intentions gives him a head-start on the throw. Has desired open-field speed to close from hash to sideline. Former basketball player and high-jumper with the leaping ability and timing to win the 50-50 throws. Posted 10 interceptions against 44 targets over last two seasons. Productive tackler and careful finisher. Steps downhill against the run. Leverages ball carriers to the sideline and rarely lets him cross back over into middle of the field. Gathers feet and widens out to unfurl a wider tackling net.

Ball-hawking free safety who has outstanding ball skills and has shown a propensity for causing turnovers. He can play from a high centerfield spot and utilizes his instincts to swoop down and challenge throws. He's able to get running backs down, but he?s not physical enough to be a combination safety. NFL teams love defensive backs with athletic traits, instincts and ball skills. If he works out well before the draft, he should move up team boards.

Shut the frick up he sounds like Darren Sharper

Dude is rangy and has a 43.5 vert. We finally have a guy that won't get beat over top

Marcus Williams, S, Utah
One Pac-12 coach referred to Williams as "freakish," and he's certainly a freakish athlete who was always around the football for the Utes. A three-year starter who appeared in 39 career games, Williams had 10 interceptions the past two seasons, five each year, and broke up eight passes. He's the ultimate center fielder who cleans up mistakes and makes plays. Most of the draft projections have Williams pegged as a third-round selection, and if he does last that long, the teams who need a safety and pass him by are going to be sorry. At 6-foot-1 and 202 pounds, Williams isn't necessarily the enforcer that a lot of NFL teams covet at safety, but he's a sure tackler and fast enough that he could also possibly play some corner. Moreover, Williams doesn't turn 21 until September. So as good as he was in college for the Utes, he has a chance to be even better in the pros.

WEAKNESSES Needs to add some muscle on his slim frame. More of a finesses safety than hitter. Takes the worst of it in one-on-one tackles. Can be dragged along for additional yardage. Plays with a hitch in his transition from backpedal. Occasionally follows quarterback's eyes too carefully and can be manipulated.

He was brought up before the draft

The guy is a flat out ball hawk. Our secondary is set and should allow us to blitz if we can't generate a pass rush across from Cam

He's a true Free Safety with coverage skills. Vaccaro and Bell can have the run support role

I agree 100%. Dude is a playmaker and the definition of a ball hawk. Him and Lattimore are a great 1-2 punch in the defensive backfield. Also to the people clamoring for Willis...have you actually watched him? The guy has almost no bend and limited pass rushing skills. That scares the shite out of me for a EDGE as far as a smooth transition to the NFL where you can't just rely on athleticism.

Sure. Now we can just sit back and wait for the coverage sacks to pile up. All we have to do is blanket every receiving option for five seconds on every passing play...

I'm starting to think no one on this staff understands defense on a conceptual level

They are the architects of the worst statistical NFL defense in the history of the game.

What did you expect?

At least they are trying I guess...lol!

He's your guy? Fine. Trade the frick down.

I mean, he's a good player but you won't get a pass rusher worth a shite beyond this round.
