Great Pick by Atlanta; they thought outside the box

They didn’t follow the expected script from the “draft experts”. They saw a guy they think can be a franchise quarterback and picked him.

They can let him sit and learn behind Kirk Cousins instead of throwing him into the fire. Similar situation to Aaron Rodgers sitting behind Brett Favre and Jordan Love sitting behind Aaron Rodgers.

Atlanta know they won't pick top 10 again with kirk cousins. They're prepared. It's a smart idea.

Rodgers was a 24th pick
Love was like 26th

They took Penix 8th overall after paying Cousins a ton of money and potentially losing a 1st or 2nd next year for tampering

Yeah but they could have traded back or back up into first and still got him. Or worst case grab him tomorrow night.
Nobody else was going after him
