Good interview with Sean Payton

about a 30 minute sit down with Cowherd, covers week one for most of it but they get into Saints stuff towards the end

Listening to Dallas sports radio on the drive home yesterday and one of the radio guys worked for the Cowboys and in the room when Payton was there.
He call Payton a QB genius and I and just laughing. Payton whiffed on every QB he chose with the saints other than Brees. The radio guy goes on to relate the story of him saying Mahomes is the best QB he ever saw prior to the draft.
Then he brought up Tony Romo and how parcells wanted to cut him but Payton said no. Then how the cowboys wanted to keep Drew Henson and Payton told they he was terrible and could not play.
I still cannot figure out what Payton ever saw in the QB's he drafted if he has the vision to see these QB's ability or inability. He drafted 3-4 Qb's that had nothing going for them and then kept them around for a few years each.

I mean the guys he drafted were bad…but who really has any kind of a decent rate on QBs that go outside round 1?
I will say if he thought of Mahomes in the manner he did, then why wouldn’t he make a stronger move? I get his reasoning in the video above but you know damn well franchise QB is infinitely more valuable than even a top level CB.

That was an excellent interview. I hope SP keep crushing it in the NFL media market this season and teams looking to hire a new coach at the end of the season are courting big time. I want him to coach next season. I want the Saints to get those compensatory picks.

IIRC he was set to pick him but another team jumped ahead to steal him away. if the chiefs didnt make that trade he was going to be drafted by us. i think it was a bit of a story how word got out who we wanted so KC traded up and jumped ahead to get him
