The one fear I have is that Grayson was some Sean Payton arrogance pick, and things are coming apart at the seams. If we are going to draft a Brees replacement for this passing offense, I want someone with physical tools... and that Hail Mary was pretty underwhelming. I figure Griffin puts the ball 10-15 yds further downfield.

Next game, I just want to see Grayson throw a nice deep ball once, to dispel that memory. Don't care if it's incomplete, or picked, I want to see some arm strength

Correct me if i'm wrong, but Brees coming out of college didn't exactly have the physical tools. But I get that you want a beast of a QB with an arm.

On the flip side, how many time in a game is a QB going to be passing for 50+ yarders .... in that respect I think arm strength is a bit overrated. As long as a guy can throw a pass about at least 40 yards i'm good.

Brees' biggest issue was his lack of height. Google isn't being helpful with links right now, but I seem to remember a couple comments that Brees had 70+ yds in the air when he was at his prime.

You can coach up a lot of things, but you can't coach arm strength. Sure, it's not always needed, but if you're going to throw deep outs, you need to put the ball in there fast.

I was hoping that they would draft Bryce Petty. I mentioned it several times during draft season but I'm going to trust Payton here. He undoubtedly has a proven track record with QB development. It's obvious now that he wanted a guy who came out of pro style system being that both Griffin & Grayson came from that in college.

There's no doubt Petty was going to face a huge learning curve coming out of an air raid spread at Baylor but no one can deny his skill set. Good feet, quick release & a really strong arm. Payton would have had time to mold him but obviously he wanted a young quarterback who was already rehearsed in the nuances of the pro style offense.

This bump is related to the posters who called me a troll in the other thread. There are several more I could bump but I think this is sufficient

Wow, what a nice pair of 20/20 hindsight binoculars you have! Now you're trolling in past threads in which you never made a post. Congratulations you've officially earned my downvote as the Troll of the Year!

Garrett reminded me of a slightly more talented and slightly more raw version of J.T. O'Sullivan. Saints definitely dropped the ball letting that go.
