If they didn't tag him, they aint worried about losing him. AND they aint convinced he's worth what they'd have to pay for the tag.

All true. I was just pointing out, he'll probably be paid closer top safety prices ($10M-$15M) than top slot cb prices (only $7-8M).

He was making $3M+ in New Orleans, and iirc, he was rumored to be asking for around $12M/yr, which prompted the impasse/trade. I could see a contender giving him $10M+ as a hybrid hired gun.

I doubt we are involved at the very start,

and that right there seems to be the problem, they often let all the best players sign and only look for the remaining few players no other team wanted and then they act like they found a gem.

in truth they have the absolute worst possible FA strategy than any other team.

maybe they think its mostly the problem guys testing FA or something, but they seem to NGAF about playing the FA market until its too late to sign any true impact players and instead we get washed up has-beens

Yeah, but we are like top 3 in the last decade in terms of drafting talent, and no doubt no1 in managing the cap. Not to mention either in the playoffs or in the hunt up to the last week of the season. You can win and manage or lose and sign all the big name.
