I thought for sure someone would have picked up Jauan Jennings by now.

Must be overplaying his hand

Rumph is a rotational player and yes, he had some moments. I don't mind that

Probably damn close to vet minimum if not vet minimum would be my guess. More than $2.5 mil per on a 2 year would be shocking.

Like last year there are a lot of players being patient and waiting for the draft to sign for more than what they are being offered now when certain teams miss on a position.

We are probably in that exact position and I wouldn't be surprised if we added WR, CB, and/or a DE depending on what rounds we draft those positions, if at all.

I think both Jordan and Olave are players who contracts are being held up by the draft as well. If we draft a receiver in round 1, it may affect how we feel about paying Olave big bucks before the season rather than letting it play out. If we don't get a receiver in the first 2 rounds we may feel more forced to look him in earlier.

Rumph initially signed with the Saints in the 2025 offseason, following Brandon Staley after Staley became New Orleans’ defensive coordinator. The two were together with the Chargers from 2021-23.

Rumph played 30 percent of the Saints’ defensive snaps last season, with 330 snaps. He was a core special teams player, too, with 351 special teams snaps. He totaled 47 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and one pass defensed in his first season with the Saints.

From PFT’s write up, he was the 4th rotational pass rusher behind Cam but didn’t realize he played so many ST snaps

With the lack of Cam, or any other edge besides Rumph, I have a feeling our FO has some good intel on either Bain or Bailey being there at 8. Recent mocks are reflecting that too.

Maybe im giving myself too much hope (I’d really like Bailey) but I can’t see them passing on Edge and rolling with what they have. I mean maybe they take a stab at Crosby AFTER the draft but that’s scary territory and I’d rather keep our picks for a loaded 2027 draft. Maybe that opens up WR at 8 (if Bailey and Bain are gone) and they can go Malachi Lawrence or R Mason Thomas at 42.

You can really swap these around but I don’t think there’s any question these are the top 3 needs:

WR
Edge
STAR (S or CB)
….and these should be our first three picks tbh. No matter what order you want to go in. I can talk myself into pretty much any of those three position at 8.

After that it’s:

Interior DL
Depth CB behind KoolAid + Riley
TE
Probably another Guard

We’re going to go into the season with some holes. We just don’t seem to be keen on handing out a ton more expensive contracts AND we’re not going to hit on every draft pick to address all of those. But hitting on those first three in the first three picks could see our win total jump from like 8-9 to like 10-11 (depending on Shough of course.)

Mickey said in one of the pressers this offseason that they had guys in the draft room sweating bullets about waiting for our pick to get Shough.

Saw ML said they ran like 200 (I’m making up a # cause idr) draft simulations and confident shough would be there at their pick.

Think he said only 1 simulation had Shough not being there. I could be mixing that last part up though.

WR Edge STAR (S or CB)

I’d move G into the top 3, being the last of the 3 taken.

I think we can do some patch work at edge with a combination of DEs and LBs. it’s not optimal, but I feel like that’s the lean.

I’d be shocked if they didn’t go WR within the first 2 picks. I prefer Downs at the star, and bell at WR. Of course, if a top flight Edge there at 8, you’d have to consider it.

yeah, 3 time All Pro.

Tampa's defense allowed a lot of explosive plays last year. The speed was lacking there in the middle, and I didn't realize David is 36 years old.

with David and Mike Evans dipping out, and them continuing to rotate offensive coordinators almost every year, that's not sustainable. I think that finally showed up last year even after they got out to a good start. They beat Seattle on the road and Baker was getting some early MVP love.

then that vanished like a fart in the wind.
