Would it make you feel better if someone killed (let's just say) your child while driving drunk. Would you feel any mercy for this person knowing that they ignored the fact driving drunk would greatly attribute to them killing someone else in an accident?
i understand what you are sayin...of course i would not give a shite about the driver if it was my kid.
also though, what if my kid or your kid went out with his friends, drank too much, and made the stupid decision to drive? would you feel the same about your kid as you do stallworth?
my big thing in this thread was not to defend stallworth's crime, but just to point out that this crime does not necessarily make someone a murdering unredeemable POS

Lets see........he kills someone while intoxicated, settles the civil part "out of court", and then gets less than a month in jail.
Yeah, lets see what would have happened if he was white or he was just your average joe blow citizen.
Whhhhhhhatever.

when someone RUNS OVER A PERSON WHILE DRIVING then they've killed someone.
i really don't see how people can defend this
So if someone just steps out in front of your car and you hit them, sure you may technically have "killed" them, but that doesn't mean it is your fault they're dead.
It's in fact there fault for stepping in front of your car.

He ended a man's life
That man was more responsible for ending his life than Stallworth, how do people not see this?
quote:
He was driving impaired
By law, yes. I've asked 2 doctors(I work in an ER) how drunk is .126, both said it's really not that impaired and BOTH said it's the equivalent of about 3 beers in an hour.
Any of you 200 pound guys would you say you're impaired after drinking 3 beers in an hour?
quote:
He's lying and never saw the man because he was too drunk
LOL at .126 being "too drunk" to be able to see someone on the side of the road. I dont think you realize what .126 is.
And I was under the impression that he flashed his lights at the guy BEFORE he stepped ont he road.

Left the scene?
Your post is the 1st I've ever heard of that.

I agree with you on the subject. Like I said, while I agree with it being strict, the "limit" for DUI is ridiculous when you are saying someone is so impaired at .126 that they can't fricking see someone step in front of their right of way while driving. shite, getting behind the wheel stressed out, upset, or late/in a hurry is more dangerous than drinking 2 beers and driving. Fact.
But, the whole purpose of the law is to prevent people from drinking and driving, not to slam judgement/blame on them when an accident like this happens. Using .08 or anything close and say that is the reason this dude is pushin up daisies if fricking ludicrous. Maybe after he had a 5th of vodka washed down with a case of beer, but .126? Bitch please.

I give you guys...
Lamar Smith
Smith was charged with vehicular assault in 1994; he was drinking and driving prior to a car wreck that left teammate Mike Frier paralyzed from the neck down. He pleaded guilty to vehicular assault in 1996, and served 60 days in a work-release program. He was also ordered to give 35 to 50 percent of his N.F.L. earnings to Frier over a seven-year period.[1] He was arrested on a second DUI charge in 2002 while playing for the Panthers. [2]
Dude was charged with vehicular assault and was drinking and driving. Teammate with him in car was paralyzed... he served his "sentence" and debt to society with the deal that he was also ordered to give the % of all future earnings to his teammate (since he couldn't pay him off like Donte can). He went on and had a few years with the Saints and then the Dolphins and never was a trouble for us or them. He was a good guy who had something bad happen to him. So Donte's 30 days isn't completely unheard of... it is heard of when you can make a plea deal.

Drinks and drives, paralyzes a passenger. Few years later arrested again for drunk driving. Yeah, real good guy who made a mistake.
Obviously he didn't learn his lesson......same with Leon Lett. Leon got arrested again for drunk driving after he killed a person drunk and got 60 days in jail. Maybe if Leon had gotten what you or I would have gotten, 10 years, he wouldn't have got a second drunk driving conviction.
Next, Donte killed a person so it's not the same thing.
You picked a bad example to use.

Please explain how this is either here nor there. I have no idea what the relevance is. I got a speeding ticket one time.... then i got another one another time.

Bet if the price for a speeding ticket was 10 years in prison you wouldn't have.

So is that your next argument? All people who has sped through a crosswalk should get 10 years in prison to teach them a mother fricking lesson?

Convenient. Wonder why they don't put all DUI/DWI first time offenders in fricking jail for 20 years immediately without any further reasoning. Cause thats what bill simmons the science guy wants to do.
