Seems saints are less inclined wanting to pay olave 35 million a year when we gonna be paying a starting qb salary near that time too

no way. Shough spreads the ball a good bit. Now with a new infusion of talent at the skill positions, I don't see it. some of the highest targeted guys will probably end up around 7-800 yards each on the season.

I still think that they WANT to give Olave a contract extension because they love the player. But I do think they trying to add enough talent in the room that they are hedging their bets JUST IN CASE they can’t agree on the extension.
I think the Saints are a good bit lower on the guaranteed AAV than what he wants (JMO), and are wanting to include injury language. Which is leading to Chris and his team balking…….which is understandable from both sides.
His injury history (and near retirement) makes this a very risky (difficult) extension. As the team, you don’t want another MT situation.

If he stays healthy 17 games times 60 yards per game.

Olave was never getting $35M per year.
$30-$32 is his range and the reason it's not done by now is the structure, The Saints likely want a few performance based incentives as insurance in case he get hurt again.
Olave on a 4 yr, 32M per year deal (~128M /4yr) and '
Tyson at about 4yr ~8m per year with the 5th year opt (~32M/4yrs) + whatever the option is.
will be a great set up.
Just about the time you're having to pay Tyson, Olave is leaving or playing on a reduced contract.
Obviosly this is rough calcs, but you get the picture.
Still leaves plenty of room to pay Shough in between all that.

yes and no. We have him "locked up" this year at a set price and the following at set price due to franchise tag capabilities (projected 31.5). Then he's year 3 and year 4 per yr would absolutely be 35 million a year. Average that all together and you are a hair above what the pierce dude got from indy. As of now, partial guarantee year 3.
This is the basis of why i said 35 per THOSE Years. cause if not, we have him jailed for 15.5 and maybe 31.5 in the meantime.

Olave was a Top 6 WR last year with a shitty OL for the full season and a mid QB for half the season. You could easily make the argument that he can be a Top 5 WR stat wise. That's worth $35mil and hes going to get it IMO.
Now will the contract end up performance/ incentives based? Probably but it will still be around $35mil.
We are closer to Pickens/ Lamb, Puka/ D Adams, and Chase/ Higgins than the bottom 20. If Tyson is better than Olave then Olave is #2. Olave is probably a better #2 than D Adams/ Higgins going forward and is probably a wash or slightly behind Pickens. You are talking about a Top 3 WR room with Olave.
JSN/ Chase will make $2mil less than Olave/ Tyson combined. We'd have the top WR group costing $20mil less than the other top WR rooms.

$35M would put him as 3rd highest paid WR with JJ.
$32M put him at 7th with AJ Brown
$30M puts him at 9th with Aiyuk
I predict that if they want to get him on a long-term deal, they most likely will need to get him something over $32.5 which would have him as the 6th highest paid WR and just over Wilson, who was drafted 1 pick ahead of him
