On Tuesday morning, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that the Falcons were going to allow Hooper to test free agency. Later that night, the two-time Pro Bowler dropped a comment on social media that indicated he would be playing for a team other than the Falcons in 2020.

In 59 regular-season games, Hooper has caught 214 passes for 2,244 yards and 16 touchdowns.

He'd be an upgrade for Hill for sure. Depends on how much money he wants. I'm sure someone will end up signing him at a price point we are unwilling to pay.

Yes, but the price will probably be too high.

Cook had at least 2 concussions last year, and he's up there in age so you have to entertain other options. Hill is great blocker and makes a catch here & there but he is not a difference maker in the pass game so it would be wise for us to look at somebody else. But as others mentioned it depends on $$# as per usual

We need to be looking at every option. Cracking down, this year for the absolute best options.

..this feels like the final encore at a great concert, last song..

Front office needs to create drama in other locker rooms to get some players unhappy, or kicked off their teams. Falcify, forge and plant damning evidence..pay off women to create "situations" so horrible that we can provide the only pathway to redemption.

Now, how and what can we set Derrick Henry up with?

Over the last two seasons, the only skill player with more offensive snaps than Hill is mike thomas. Our tackles are good, but notice who is helping. He won’t get the recognition when a JJ Watt is shutdown but he’s in the trenches battling

Hooper is not a better blocker than Hill, nor is he a better pass catcher than Cook

But he can do both pretty good.
I don't like him but eventually we need to draft a tight end

Then have been putting it off

He has decent numbers just based off pure volume. But he’s not a difference maker in the pass game. Whoever pays him will be foolish

quote:

Since 2016, Hooper has gained 75.5% of his receiving production on targets defined as holes in zones or underneath the defense (think drag routes, flat routes) — by far the highest percentage in the league.

Add to it that Hooper has just a 58.9 receiving grade against single coverage since 2016, and it’s clear that his production has largely been a product of the situation in Atlanta.

Yeah I agree.
I'm just saying we can't go on paying Jared cook 8 mil

Eventually you have to get a young tight end in the draft
I'm a big Josh hill fan, especially with how little he makes

For good reason though. Think about us being linked with Gesicki and guys like him in the first round. I’m really happy we didn’t take them, as they’re 1st round pick hasn’t really translated to the NFL

Hard pass. He’s not a difference maker like Kittle, but will want to be paid in that zip code. Like someone said, they will overpay and be disappointed. There’s a reason the a Falcons are trying hard to resign him.

Is Coby Fleener available? He would be a nice weapon to have at TE.

We're bringing in Fleener, Ernie Conwell and Boo Williams for workouts over the weekend

My buddy here in Atlanta text me and said Hooper wanted $15mm plus. And he followed that up with “Bye Hooper”

Letting him hit free agency is apparently the only move Falcons fans agree with the front office on
