10 times the atmosphere, really? Different atmosphere for sure, but 10 times better? Sounds likes someone trying to convince himself it's better not to be at the game.
have you ever been to a super bowl ? if you are expecting a raucous superdome crowd during the game and parade spilling into the streets after the game .. think again ... if the saints win, there will be about 1,487 different places people down there will be able to go to celebrate .. the vast majority of saints fans going are the well-to-do types that'll go back to the hotel after the game ..
new orleans .. on the other hand .. will be centralized in the french quarter and will be far closer to a superdome atmosphere than sun life stadium will be ... you did see the french quarter party after the NFC title game .. right ?? what do you think that scene would be if the saints won the world championship ?? oh, i'd say at least 10x bigger for starters ...
looks more to me like someone's trying to justify to themselves why they just dropped their next 6 mortgage payments on a trip to miami ...

not to mention the Miami stadium site is not convenient. The stadium is way up north in Miami Gardens and a very expensive rental car is a must have

there is zero atmosphere at a Super Bowl for fans of either team.
it is one corporate tent after another and the game crowd is so diluted by neutral observers that there is little crowd noise effect

Bingo. Many local folks figured this out the hard way this week, and are either biting the bullet on all the ancillary expenses, or thowing up their hands and trying to unload their tickets now. It shouldn't have been that hard to realize this would happen for a good number of folks, that the logistics of actually getting there were much more than one might have initially thought, given as many tickets at the Saints actually got, and the state of the economy as a whole.
people were just overcome by emotion .. once a lot came back down to earth and looked at their budgets and what this trip will actually cost, they started dumping their tickets .. this happened on a much smaller scale with the lsu-washington game in seattle last season ... when the schedule came out, everyone was all ga ga about going to washington state and put in for tickets .. then, when they got tix and started trying book flights and rooms there, it hit them .. and you had mass ticket dumping on the TD exchange ..

out of the two in NOLA that i have been to .. the green bay packers cheeseheads did pretty good .. but the patriots fans (twice) and rams fans were almost non-existent ... in fact, i remember the french quarter both times looking to me like just a typical busy saturday night and nothing more ...

lol
and c'mon, i thought everyone on here had so much money...you'd think 2 or 3 thousand bucks to see NO Saints history in person would be nothing. The money should not be the reason not to go, unless you just don't have it.
But seriously, I completely understand the appeal of being in NOLA. Like I said, completely different atmosphere. But to say watching game on TV here is 10 times better than being in Miami and seeing the first ever Saints SB in person is just crazy. To each his own of course.
I'm just glad 20, 30, 40 years from now I can say I was actually there. That means something to a lot of New Orleanians and die hard Saints fans.

We have been assured by locals that tickets at face or below will be easy to come by.As i stated earlier last SB in MIami I sat 20 yard line half way up lower level $200.And it will be WILD in the quarter.......................BUT frick ITS SAINTS IN SUPERBOWL IN MIAMI.
I think the NFL has done a good job of pricing out scalpers for all but the dumbest/most-antsy potential buyers out there.
If you think about it, there's only so many people willing to pay $800 to see a football game (along with all the other associated expenses, as documented), especially between two teams someone may really have no rooted interest in, and especially given this national economy.
If you're someone with a rooted interest, there's doubtlessly plenty of ways to get in for no more than that cost.

got everything i needed going to the arizona and minnesota playoff games and the quarter after the title game ... i like the atmosphere of being around saints fans .. that atmosphere will be greater in the quarter than it is in miami, easily ..

i've been to two super bowls, i know the atmosphere ... i was there when the packers went for the first time in almost 30 years, and the cheeseheads -- who can EASILY compete with saints fans -- were vastly watered down ... you will have a mardi gras atmosphere in the quarter before, during, and after the game with a win ... in miami .. you are going to have 7,000 saints fans scattered out from west palm beach to coconut grove ...

if that's that important to you .. then good for you ... but let's don't start playing the "true diehard saints fans are the ones in miami" card ...

I argued with myself for quite awhile before I decided to stay in N.O. for the game. I can see both sides, but I just think it's going to be a blast here in the city.

Oh another thing. As far as actually seeing the game itself, television is better.

About 80% of this guys posts are regarding the purchase or selling of tickets..
What is a broker again??? Because that sounds a whole lot like the work of a broker.

in NOLA = better fan shared experience
in Miami = better fan personal experience

Definitely not playing "that card". Trust me I know just as many die hards that can't go or would rather not go for whatever reason. Just sayin that for a lot of us it will certainly be cool to experience it there in person. I also think you're selling S. La people a bit short on the party/fun factor. No matter what, we know how to party, no matter where or how many people. 5k LSU fans in middle of nowhere Auburn is still a good time.

I disagree. I feel like television production puts their own spin on the game to a certain degree, plus camera angles don't allow you to see entire field as things develop. They also don't allow you to watch specifically what you want to watch. It's especially fun to watch this saints offense from upper level. You can see the big play happen before it even does, whereas on TV you just see the QB throw the ball and have no idea until it's caught. Kinda hard to explain I guess. But it's my one of my favorite things about being in the dome.

id rather be in miami... im sure there will be a party in nola but the crowds are just too big on bourbon. I was there last week and didnt stay that long after because it was just too hectic. it was great the night before and before the game during the day though.

Attention. This just in . . . it's been reported that post-game Saints celebrations have been sighted outside of Bourbon St. Stay tuned for details.

thats cool too. im sure just about everywhere will be packed. I believe the majority of people coming in from out of town will plan on being around the quarter though.

i go back and forth in my mind on this all the time ... but, when you get down to it .. there is only a sliver of seats in the stadium itself that can even compare to watching the game on television with today's high definition/surround sound technology ... you can't compare sitting in the upper end zone to a high def, on the line of scrimmage with a crystal clear pic of every play ...
